Shinagawa Prince Hotel Tokyo
Ranked #40 of 116 Hotels / Ryokan in Minato
Reviewed June 17, 2014

I've been staying at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel in Tokyo for the last 10+ years. This has to be one of the most reasonable and convenient locations to stay while visiting Japan. From the Narita Airport, you catch the train from the airport and get off directly across the street at the Shinagawa station. It's located right on the grid for all JR and Shinkansen trains. I've often used this hotel as my central location when I took trains to go to Osaka and Kyoto.

Note that there are three different hotels on the property - Prince Hotel, Prince Hotel Annex, and the Prince Hotel North. My preference is to stay at the Annex or the North hotels, because they are recently renovated and the rooms and cleaner (and seems a bit larger than the main hotel). There are many weddings & celebrations in the main hotel, so it can get very noisy and crowded.

Rooms are small, but it does the job when you are traveling and sight seeing during the days. Showers and bathrooms are small, and the bidet is very interesting!

Tip: These hotels ofthen have super deals (plus additional discounts) on Orbitz.Com. It's the easiest way that I found to make reservations.

Great service, staff always friendly and right near Shinagawa Station. Bullet train service south or using internal network will get you to most places, shopping, eateries, famous fish markets ( be early if you want to see markets. Train station 100 m away. Rooms at shinagawa clean spacious and had no problems.

Room Tip: Floors, some smoking and non smoking

Best thing of the hotel is that the position is very central. Hotel is very convinient for business travelers as it is next to the trainstation. The rooms are very small, and bath room is plastic box, with very limited space. The front desk was very friendly, but that is amost all.

it's my second visit for a business trip. it is not because of this hotel is my first corporate hotel, even from my other company.

location is a matter why I choose this hotel, beside the price. right in front of shinagawa train station where all kind of train and direction gather. so it ease to plan your trip.

I stayed in this hotel for three days in June 2014. First if all, location is awesome. it is centrally located in Tokyo and across the Shinagawa train station, maybe 5 minutes walk. I stayed in east tower. Check in and check out were very easy. As usual Japanese people greet you with respect at the front door. Room key was a surprise because it was the old fashioned steel key with steel key chain. Room was very small but I wasn't expecting a big room. It was maximum 5 m long and 2 m wide. There was a small closet at the entrance, there was a bed by the wall and there was a very small bathroom at the end. Bed was enough for me but I'm 5.6 height. I was able to lock the closet when I'm away. There was also a small table and a small chair. Instead of coffee pot there was a hot water pot with green tea next to it. Bathroom was very small but enough for me to take shower or shave or use the restroom. Bathroom toilet was high-tech just like any other Japanese bathrooms. There was a small TV by the bed but I couldn't find any English Channel except CNN international in Japanese doubling. Window was very small and it was looking to the train station. Room was very very clean. Bed comfort was so so. Air conditioner was old but it worked all night long fine. There was a small fridge. Free Wi-Fi worked fine at all times. Best part of this hotel is the location because it is very close to Shinkansen and metro stations. There was a McDonalds and 7-Eleven at the entrance of the hotel which was very convenient to eat or pick up something. I also shopped at the souvenir shop, it has many items at reasonable price. I did not try the restaurant. Hotel staff was very helpful in finding restaurants around Tokyo. There are two elevators on the east block, they worked fine but they may get very crowded. Overall I was very happy with this hotel. I would definitely stay there again just because the location is awesome.

Being in Tokyo was quite overwhelming, but Shinagawa offered the perfect location to jump start our trek to the rest of Tokyo. Situated right next to the Shinagawa Stn it offered the perfect central connector to other train lines for side day trips as well as venturing into the other prefectures in Tokyo. The 7-Eleven right outside (or maybe it's part of) hotel was god-sent: ATM for cash--and it's probably the only convenient place to get cash for foreign visitors, coffee, baked goods, hot packaged food (very fresh and affordable) and any other amenities a traveler might need. Locals en route to-and-from work also frequent here so it's packed in the morning. In the Shinagawa Stn, there are lots of restaurants, bakeries, grocers, and snacks to suit anyone's needs, so you don't need to eat at fancy restaurants everyday. I could have just lived off of the offerings from Shinagaawa Stn. I can't wait to go back!!!
