“Good stay at Shinagawa Prince Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

We stayed at Shinagawa Price Hotel at both the Annexe and the Main Tower.
The Annexe is definitely better, newer, modern than the Main Tower.
There were issues like:
- We booked the Main Tower through Agoda and the room was not the Corner Room (which is what we'd booked)
- Internet didn't work in the first room they allocated in the Main Tower and then they shifted us
- The queue for breakfast was tiring
- Check out too meant a long queue

The Annexe room was clean, better, though bathrooms everywhere were small.
The prices definitely were steep.
The Travel Desk/Customer Services Desk was helpful.

Room Tip: Prefer to stay in the Annexe

Shinagawa Prince is a hotel with 3 major towers. Main, Annex and East. The Main tower, which I stayed in. I have stayed in the east a couple of years back. If u are staying in a single room its only available in the east tower. The annex tower is a newer addition some years later.

The hotel is situated right next to Shinagawa station which in itself has nothing much to do. Trains have to be taken everywhere which makes it a little bit of a pain. the hotel has a limousine bus which takes u to and from the airport right to the door stop of the hotel.

The main tower rooms are of decent size and look nice. From my room I could see Tokyo tower. The east tower from what I remember is really old and in need refurbishment.

The only problem with this hotel is its size. Its so damn big so u are faced with queues for checking in and out. Even a queue for breakfast which is not the first thing u want to be doing in the morning.

All in all if staying next to a train station is important to u than i would stay here. If not I would try staying some where nearer to shibuya or shinjuku.

The room at Shinagawa prince hotel was nice, and was very close to the station and other amenities. The internet was great for the price (free). For a large hotel, it was disappointing there wasn't any english really spoken at the reception but this didn't make the stay any issue.

The rooms and hotel staff were very nice. I had a king room and it was big enough. Make sure to check in early for WiFi units. Very clean. Rooms on higher floors have great views. Easy walk to Shinagawa Station as it is right across the street. Plenty of places to eat near by like Fridays. The hotels Buffett is really good and huge. I would stay here again for business. If you want a step up, go to the Intercontinental Hotel across the street. Otherwise this hotel is nice and has what ever you need.

Room Tip: Higher floor king rooms.

This is a decent hotel in Tokyo. The price is reasonable, the hotel is clean and decently maintained. Breakfast is not so great. The location is excellent, it is close to major metro lines and we had no trouble getting around Tokyo from here. Equally, it is super easy to reach from the airport.

Overall
Excellent connectivity from airport and also to other parts of Tokyo as it is 3mins from Shinagawa station.

Location
From Narita, take the airport transfer bus to this hotel in 45-60mins. You can simply purchase the transfer ticket once you have cleared the customs. Transfer back to airport can be purchased also at the hotel lobby. Being a stone throw away from Shinagawa station, this makes this hotel a very good location to sleep in while in Tokyo. There are 2 supermarkets at Shinagawa station, near the traffic light crossing towards Prince hotel and also a Isetan supermarket behind(away) from Prince hotel.

Food
No lack of choices here from the 4 in-house restaurants to choose for breakfast ranging from traditional Japanese to western international. The hotel is also located near other eateries with choices of sushi, sukiyaki, BBQ etc. if you are keen to walk further, walk across Shinagawa station towards the Isetan supermarket and will find more small eateries located directly beyond the station.

The hotel is directly across the street from the train station which also has a N'ex train to take you straight to Narita airport as well as Haneda. I like that there are a lot of convenience stores next to the hotel. There isn't much to do around the area except the aquarium.

The lobby is hectic and you will need to quickly ask one of the harried staff where you can hold your luggage if you arrive early or if your flight leaves late. Check in is straight forward but there are a few towers so make sure you get on the right elevator. The staff understand English and can communicate easier than a few hotels I have been to previously.

The room itself is, by comparison to other Tokyo hotels, very spacious and clean. The linen is clean and of good quality. The bathroom has space for your toiletries. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but from what I can see it looks great. There are shops connected to the hotel which sell souvenirs as well as big packs of green tea kitkat!

This hotel offers a good sleep and security. If you want a nice relaxed stay and intend to get back to the room early, then I would recommend this hotel. Since trains stop around midnight and taxis are not cheap, you would need to hop on to a train before midnight to get back in time. It is not close to anything 'touristy' but has a good room and is more catered towards families.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a non smoking room if you do not like the smell of cigarettes.
