“Good location, good price for Tokyo”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

This is a decent hotel in Tokyo. The price is reasonable, the hotel is clean and decently maintained. Breakfast is not so great. The location is excellent, it is close to major metro lines and we had no trouble getting around Tokyo from here. Equally, it is super easy to reach from the airport.

Overall
Excellent connectivity from airport and also to other parts of Tokyo as it is 3mins from Shinagawa station.

Location
From Narita, take the airport transfer bus to this hotel in 45-60mins. You can simply purchase the transfer ticket once you have cleared the customs. Transfer back to airport can be purchased also at the hotel lobby. Being a stone throw away from Shinagawa station, this makes this hotel a very good location to sleep in while in Tokyo. There are 2 supermarkets at Shinagawa station, near the traffic light crossing towards Prince hotel and also a Isetan supermarket behind(away) from Prince hotel.

Food
No lack of choices here from the 4 in-house restaurants to choose for breakfast ranging from traditional Japanese to western international. The hotel is also located near other eateries with choices of sushi, sukiyaki, BBQ etc. if you are keen to walk further, walk across Shinagawa station towards the Isetan supermarket and will find more small eateries located directly beyond the station.

The hotel is directly across the street from the train station which also has a N'ex train to take you straight to Narita airport as well as Haneda. I like that there are a lot of convenience stores next to the hotel. There isn't much to do around the area except the aquarium.

The lobby is hectic and you will need to quickly ask one of the harried staff where you can hold your luggage if you arrive early or if your flight leaves late. Check in is straight forward but there are a few towers so make sure you get on the right elevator. The staff understand English and can communicate easier than a few hotels I have been to previously.

The room itself is, by comparison to other Tokyo hotels, very spacious and clean. The linen is clean and of good quality. The bathroom has space for your toiletries. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but from what I can see it looks great. There are shops connected to the hotel which sell souvenirs as well as big packs of green tea kitkat!

This hotel offers a good sleep and security. If you want a nice relaxed stay and intend to get back to the room early, then I would recommend this hotel. Since trains stop around midnight and taxis are not cheap, you would need to hop on to a train before midnight to get back in time. It is not close to anything 'touristy' but has a good room and is more catered towards families.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a non smoking room if you do not like the smell of cigarettes.

Stayed here for two days and it was a great experience. Hotel was close to the JR station and walking distance to other shops and restaurants too. Had a great view of the city from our hotel room. Staff hospitality was great. Family oriented hotel when traveling with kids. Food market and grocery store right next to the JR station.

we stayed during our stop over holiday in Japan and enjoyed the location of this hotel. The room was large and spacious and the view was good and all the amenities were functional. The breakfast spread in the coffee shop was varied and wholesome. The staff was cordial and helpful and we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. There are no wifi in this hotel.

Ok I know Tokyo is busy but the lobby is always packed out with suitcases everywhere. Rooms ok with good views but come on everyday a massive que for breakfast like a 20 min wait. So I suggest you forget it and walk 3 mins and grab a McDonalds. View from bar top floor great but just a little shoddy could be top rate.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 week stay at Tokyo Shinagawa Prince hotel. The staff and maids were extremely friendly and accommodating to our special needs. There were so many shops, restaurants and supermarket that was close proximity to the hotel. It was our best trip to Japan and will return to the Shinagawa hotel in the near future.
