“Excellent service”
Reviewed July 11, 2014

Just spent a week in this hotel and must commend their staff on the service we received. Nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is very well presented and the rooms are a good size. The restaurants are quite expensive however a 2 minute walk to the neighbouring ark hills building and there are plenty of alternatives. Train station is very close. Great stay in Tokyo overall.

There is so much to like about this hotel: the location is great, the bed is really comfortable, the shower is seriously good, the bathroom amenities are useful and good quality, the housekeeping is consistently excellent, and the staff (mostly) deliver excellent service. And the aircon is seriously good and quiet - just what you need in a hot, humid Tokyo summer. And this is one of the very few hotels that have got the door-closing mechanism exactly right so that the door closes firmly but slows right down just before it closes so that it is nicely quiet. Sadly there are a few areas that let the hotel down: the smell in the bathroom of my room was awful - probably because of poor drainage from the wetroom arrangement, and not helped by poor ventilation. The room furniture (except for the bed) is small and the sofa is hard and not very comfortable as it has a low back. The food is just adequate - not as top notch as I had expected. The lobby restaurant buffet was mediocre and set up for snacking from bits & pieces - I didn't feel that I could create a coherent meal on a plate. And an expensive plate at that - 6000 Yen for dinner. The room service hamburger was fine - nothing special, but served in 20 minutes. I went to two of the restaurants in the hotel and was both times put at the worst table despite the places being about 70% empty. Service grew less friendly when I asked politely if I could sit at another table.

I have stayed here a couple of times on various trips to Tokyo. Located very close to Roppongi crossing/Akasaka business area, its pretty convenient (also with direct bus connection to Narita/Haneda airports). Having said that - the hotel itself feels quite old and rundown: the rooms are tiny and often smell smoky (even for non-smoking rooms); and the overall furnishings are badly in need of a revamp. There are better options out there in this price range.

Room Tip: Try to prioritize a non-smoking room and complain if you get one that is smoky.

I stayed at the ANA; I cannot say enough about the staff - very helpful. The Bell Captain went out of his way to make sure I got where I was going (walking) that first day.
I guarantee that I will stay at the ANA Intercontinental when I return to Tokyo.

The hotel is accessible by two subway stations "Roppongi 1-chome" and "Tameike Sanou", and is connected to nearby shopping centres with some restaurants, which is extremely convenient. The area is more of a business area with office buildings around. There's convenience store across the road, which is great for mid-night snacks. The room we were staying was not really huge but comfortable enough. Bed was comfortable, although the bathroom was a bit small and setting not really looked like a 5-star hotel. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed that very much every morning. Overall services had been good while staff at the front desk have been helpful too. This place will be on our list if we visit Tokyo again.

This hotel needs to update its business practices if it wants to compete.

Charging over Y1600 for wifi? Check!
Tiny and old bathrooms? Check!
Extra charge for 3 hour late checkout? Check!
Small selection of television channels with very poor picture quality? Check!
And finally.....charging Y3000 per 'guest' to use the hotel swimming pool? Yes, that's what the ANA InterContinental considers hospitality.

All up, it's a 3star property that gouges patrons at every opportunity. There are better places to stay in Tokyo. Would not recommend.

I stayed at this hotel for five nights a couple of weeks ago. I usually stay at Marriott or Sheraton hotels while in the US, and I must say that the Anna Intercontinental Hotel Tokyo is much better than those while being in the same price range. Rooms are almost the same size as rooms in the US, which is an exception in Tokyo. Rooms are nice and clean. The staff at the hotel is simply fantastic, particularly the tall Australian guy handling the luggage who helped us a million times and firmly refused to accept any tips (explaining us that it is not culturally appropriate). The location of the hotel is great, with a metro station right on the front door. From there you can get anywhere in Tokyo within a few minutes. It is within walking distance from Roppongi so you can walk there for dinner. Another plus is that you can get to the hotel from Narita just by taking the Limousine Bus for roughly 30 us dollars. It is quick and simple, and you forget about the stress! The only downside: avoid the breakfast, it is too expensive!

Room Tip: The higher the better, you can get pretty neat views of Tokyo up there!
