OK,so Joypolis were to start, well its inside so its great if its cold outside or raining. and to be fair as far as fully indoor amusement parks go its not too bad, not that i have been to man, in fact i can only think if one and that's in Gateshead shopping center. But Alton towers of Six flags this aint.
First thing ill say is don't go on a weekend unless your idea of fun is queuing, been a Brit i like to thing iv'e mastered this over the years to quite a high degree, but even i got frustrated at the wait times as most rides hold a max of 8 people. Also as i single traveler its not ideal, as most of it is geared to couples and hay why not, its more for the local teens to hang out so im not going to knock it one bit for this and so far every teen group i have met have been nothing but considerate and just getting on with the day, a shame other countries growing adults cant take heed and take note. Finally the cost, its very over priced if busy and you don't have hours to que, or go on a quite day. But hay its Tokyo and and its an indoor theme park.
Ok, that's the bad now, onto the good, Yay.
Its a bit like stepping into a future world, all very space age, if not a little outdated now, but for the size of the place the rides are pretty good, once you got over the queuing (sorry), Oh and there are some great arcade machines. Don't be fooled by the pay once and everything in free though, as some of the general arcade games you still have to pay for. But like i said before don't be put off, if you stick to the after dark pass, much better value and go during the week it can be a great way to lose a few hours and the general area is great in terms of attractions and shops and views of the city and bay.
But to some up if you are in the area and its mid week or an evening its defiantly worth a visit, but i personally wouldn't go out of my way to go there just for this. Also if its arcade games you looking for look elsewhere.
So why three stars and not less, well i can see that it would have appeal for couple and if the weather is bad and its not too busy as the rides are good or you have kids, as is the general setting of the place. But as ever with a review its always a personal opinion of how i felt the day i was there.
On a side note, if you are traveling there make sure you use the sky train for some great views of the bay and city.
Until next time enjoy Tokyo
