Small stylish restaurant. Great menu and drinks. Marvellous host who speaks perfect English and took good care of us on the two occasions we ate there. Could not have been more welcoming. Highly recommended. Would definitely eat there again if we have the chance!

This restaurant once in Soho New York. it was the legend HONMURAAN restaurant which we miss soooooo much! Bravo to the restaurateur who brings the esprit to revive in the middle of Tokyo.
The Zen style elegance yet relaxed atmosphere we won't miss anymoe.
Food is actually even better with fresh ingredients of authentic Japanese produce.
Grace à Honmura An! truly triumph to bring up the simple Soba noodle to the world finest cuisine and culture level.

We came across this place by fortuitous accident with no reservations but still were graciously seated. A gorgeous room, with calming aesthetics. We were the only foreigners for the first two hours, and the room was full. There is an English menu which the host was delighted to share and explain. It was our daughter's first dinner in Tokyo, the city of her birth, since she left 22 years ago. So this was a celebration. The tasting menu was perfect to give her a true taste of fine Japanese cuisine. Wonderful presentation of seasonal fare. Extremely reasonably priced. Excellent rare beer...cloudy and delicious. And the host again was happy to recommend a specific sake to complement the meal. What a treat! a truly lovely experience.

If you are non-Japanese and want to try a local Japanese food, then this is it. This does not mean that the food served here is for foreigner. No. Most of the clients are Japanese. This place serves high standard Japanese food and soba (Japanese hot & cold noodles) which would compliment some of wine or Japanese sake. Try their draft beer which is special. The owner, Mr Kobari, speaks excellent English as he used to run Honmra-an in New York. Be sure to visit in the evening as it has more ambience. You can go during the lunch time if you want just a bowl of noodle.

I was a regular of Honmura An for many years when it was in NYC. This January, I had the chance to spend a few days in Tokyo and decided to find it. I am so glad I went. It was so nice to see the owner, Koichi san. He was as warm and gracious as before, and quickly offered me a seat. Cold sake was served and I had the set menu. Everything was incredible. The flavor, texture, presentation, and so on sent me to food nirvana.

As a bonus, Koichi san speaks flawless English, so if you feel intimidated because of lack of Japanese language skill, he will put you at ease immediately.
