An old park in the center of expat land, but its very much from the 1960`s and needs an uplift. Little depressing, given this is upmarket residential area at its best.

If you are in the Hiroo neighbourhood of Tokyo, you should make the effort to visit this charming park. The park is small but contains delightful paths that encircle the small pond. The pond and the stream that feeds it, are traversed by several interesting bridges in the traditional Japanese style. The pond is well stocked with carp and turtles.

The park is a popular destination for schoolchildren, as well as pre-schoolers, in the warmer months so it can get crowded in the mornings. If you have children, they will have hours of fun exploring the pond, bridges and paths in the park.

It was great to see a park in the middle of an urban city. This gives its resident's and visitors time to reflect upon mother nature. Once in the park, you are drawn into its many natural surroundings, not bothered by any city sounds whatsoever. We did come across the metropolitan library which is an asset to the area. This is a nice island of mother nature in the center of one of the most populated cities in the world-Tokyo.

We visited after a long absence from Tokyo and were pleased to see Prince Arisugawa Park was nearly the same as when we left. My kids marveled at how different things looked with the passage of time, but they remembered it fondly. Nice patch of green in an area filled with embassies and international businesses.

The park sits in the heart of Minami-Azabu where many foreign expats reside. There is a lovely Japanese pond with koi and ducks, stone lanterns, bamboo, flowers, and benches for relaxation and contemplation. In August your time will be spent listening to the din of cicadas!
