I was really worried about coming here after seeing the negative reviews, especially as Im a single female traveller but it was ok here - you get what you pay for. Other places in Roppongi were about 4/5 times the price of the Mayflower. I just wanted a cheap room in Roppongi at Christmas so that I could be close to my rich friends staying in the Intercontinental up the road!!!
The room is very small and basic, probably just enough room to put your suitcase on the floor. The sheets are clean and despite being on the main road, I didnt hear much - just a little bit of traffic noise. You get a towel and a bar of soap - better than nothing. There is an ethernet cable to plug your laptop into the internet and wifi upstairs....... Despite the place looking very run down, I did see the reception woman cleaning every evening and I didnt see one rat!
If you want luxury, a big room and super clean, then dont come here. But if you just want a bed or are here long term, this might be ideal as most of the guests have been here a while - there is a washing machine and dryer, a fridge and a tv upstairs in the common area. The people I have met staying at Mayflower, seemed nice and friendly.
My only issues were having to pay 100 yen every time you wanted a shower and there is no reception area, so when you arrive, you have to call them beforehand and wait for someone to come and check you in. Bit annoying but other than that, it was an ok stay!
