+ the rooms are beautiful with stunning views

+ gorgeous bathrooms

+ beautiful bar and restaurants

+ consistently exceptional service ( I have stayed here half a dozen times)

-ve there really aren't any other than the fact the hotel is inverted such that you check in at the top level and travel down to your rooms which takes a little getting used to

Fantastic service. Concierge personnel go over and beyond expectations to get us tickets and reservations to restaurants even during the busy holiday season, they have this fantastic burger that you can order thru room service. Just a block walk to Mitsukoshi . It was easy access to subway

Everything I expect from a 5 star hotel - but not quite enough to make it out of this world (which everyone seems to expect from Mandarin Oriental).
Excellent service with staff who were helpful and friendly.
The hotel provides a nice questionnaire to ask guests about their preferences (e.g. when you want the room to be cleaned and when you want it turned down). Although not too sure how effective that is as the time the room is turned down is not actually correct on the one day I could check.
Views from the rooms were stunning and the amenities were excellent.
The Gym was equipped with state of the art equipment, and clean, although it was a little small.
The location of the hotel is excellent, being on top of a metro station (mitsukoshimae) but private enough given the unassuming entrance of the hotel.

However, the whole package is let down a little with some of the following criticisms.
No Pool available, when pretty much all other 5-star hotels will have an indoor pool.
The daily newspaper did not seem to arrive in the early morning, it appeared on my desk at the end of the day for the 5 days I was there.
The breakfast buffet at Kshinki (sp?) was a little disappointing and expensive in comparison to some of the other buffets offered at other hotels. I ended up selecting a la carte menu items.
No complimentary Wifi, daily cost of Wifi is pretty expensive (1800 Yen) for 1 day.

I've stayed in the Shangri-la and the Park Royal hotel in the general area, and I would have to admit, I would prefer both to Mandarin Oriental. The only reason I would choose Mandarin Oriental over the other 2 is the location (less of a walk to work) which makes a difference during the cold Winter :-)

Traveled on business, this is my second time staying in this hotel. Service is outstanding and it's one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed. Very conveniently located as well. I missed it already.

You can't beat the location, service or 5-star comfort of this hotel. It is modern, has beautiful views and the MOTO concierge is fantastic. They helped us figure out our trip -- over e-mail before we arrived -- and offered impeccable service when we were there. Our entire experience was fantastic -- they beat expectations when it came to luxury and service.

The rooms are well appointed, all with great views. We had a Mt. Fuji view -- but arrived late at night on the clear day and the fog prevented us from seeing it while we were there, but the view was lovely regardless. The beds are dreamy and the rooms are spacious and efficient.

The area is more "downtown" business feeling -- but you can walk (or quickly cab) to the train station which will take you anywhere you want to go in Tokyo or the rest of Japan. This was particularly useful as we took a day trip to Nagano.

Service is sensational. When you arrive at the ground floor level, the staff in the 38th floor reception area are immediately on alert to welcome you to the hotel. There was a genuine warmth and empathy emanating from the young woman who welcomed me at the entrance and literally whisked me up to the top floor. And the panoramic view of Tokyo from behind the back of the check-in area is "sharp intake of breath" inducing, it is so eye-catching and spectacular.

I booked a Grand King Room on the 35th floor. It was one of the most serene habitats I have ever experienced. Apart from the panoramic view from the floor to ceiling windows, the bamboo floors coupled with the comfortable floor mats and the capacious extra-large bed put me in a "Japanese state-of-mind". I felt like I was a shogun (at least for two days!). The hotel also has a number of Michelin-starred establishments, two of which will serve food (at not too exorbitant prices) directly to your room. There's also a Japanese-style bathroom to die for, divided into separate compartments encapsulating a sunken bath, a wet room with a shower, a separate wc and sink area (with all the usual high end toiletries).

For social interaction, it's difficult to beat the bar of the hotel on a weekend night. If you sit at the bar, you can watch the bar tenders mix taste-filled cocktails with great style and brio. Or, if you are in a romantic mood, you can adjourn to the banquettes at the back of the bar, where you can sit with your loved one/hot date and take in the amazing panoramic view of Tokyo, buzzing with life, hundreds of feet below you.

Admittedly, this hotel set me back about Euro 1,200 for two nights there. But it was worth every single cent of my expenditure. An outstanding place.

Room Tip: It's worth spending Euro 100 extra to get yourself a Grand King room.
