Ginza is great if you want to do some shopping. There are plenty of boutiques and high level shopping to do here. There is about 4-5 department stores in Ginza plus some traditional Japanese shops that specialise in traditional Japanese food to traditional Japanese goods. The staff in the stores are very friendly but their English is very limited to none whatsoever. In Ginza you'll also find some Western Style cafe's and a sandwich shop (Subway). There is no Western style take-away in this area for people who don't want to try Japanese food. There is also a large Apple store where you will find English speakers.

Clean, orderly, many high quality stores, 12-storey high UNIQLO flagship store now on sales, nu numerous good restaurants of different price levels, safe and refreshing, well served by subway/railway systems.

But of course, I would still miss Shinjuku and actually left Ginza for one day there. They are so different.

This is a "must see" location. Huge, busy and sophisticated. Acres of shops but many sell huge amounts of top end western goods. Reasonable prices for sterling, but not much fun if you seek Japanese clothes.

Top end shops galore, myriads of elegantly dressed Japanese, Tokyo traffic! Then at midday on Saturday, it all becomes a pedestrian mall! Amazing!
