“Ippudo 博多 一風堂”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

I seldom try Japanese ramen. But if I were in Japan , I would try my best to eat more. Ippudo is a chain shop serving authentic Japanese ramen. But please be reminded that not all branches in the chain serve ramen of the same quality, there must be variation.

I specially travel a long distance to have this ramen, after lunch. I am disappointed as its ramen is really authentic and good in taste. Thank you.

“Go for it!”
Reviewed February 4, 2013

In high-priced Ginza, it is thrilling to find an eatery like Ippudo Ramen which offers food that is absolutely "oishi" - delicious, and value for money. This chain's fame has spread beyond Japanese shores to places like Singapore, which speaks for the standard of its cooking. It is well worth seeking out.

Because it is a small eatery, accessed by a narrow staircase down to the basement, with a hard-to-identify signage, it is best to ask for directions. Tip: Approach the information counter of any of the big department stores there, like Mitsukoshi, and the ever helpful service staff will produce a photostated copy of a simplified Ginza map which lists the main buildings there. They all know Ippudo, and will be able to pinpoint it on the map. Following it is a breeze because Ginza is laid out in a grid. Just be careful not to mistake the street level sister restaurant, Ippudo Tao for the original Ippudo as you approach.

You can't go wrong with any of your ramen choices - classic or modern. The stock is rich and hearty, and the texture of the ramen just perfect. For added flavor, grind some sesame seeds onto the soup. Because it is so popular, and does not have a huge seating capacity, it is best to hit it ahead of the lunch/dinner crowd, although turnover is quite fast too. Slurp, slurp, then go, and come back another time to enjoy what is arguably the world-best ramen.

This place is best,,, we had lunch here today and the 40 minutes it took to find it were well worth the food... There is no sign in english so you just have to ask.... We found the ramen to be very flavorful and not very expensive 800 to 1000 yen per person. The staff was very helpful and english speaking including a menu in english... The portions sizes were very large and the best!!! A must on every visit to this area of Tokyo

“Good cheap ramen if you are shopping in Ginza”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

If you're in need of a noodle fix, this is a good option. For less than 1000 yen you can get a big bowl of ramen, lunch set including gyoza. You can also add vegies etc if you need a bit more than the pork and shallots!
It's down the stairs in the basement. Tiny little place, but a good option if you want to stay away from western cafes etc..
