We toured Tsukiji with a friend who lives in Tokyo. After viewing the tuna auction and walking around, we stopped by Yamazaki and had some of the freshest sushi in the world.
With our friend as a guide we felt like the smartest tourists in Tsukiji. While everyone else waited in line at Sushi Dai and other well-marketed sushi spots, our friend took us to Yamazaki, right next door.
We were the only people there, and the sushi was amazing. Don't be fooled by the lines at the other places. You can't go wrong at Yamazaki.
