Other than many okonomiyaki eateries that flanked nishinaka dori, I didn't see anything else that interested me here. But I must say the cook it yourself "cabbage pancake" was rather tasty. Opt for a restaurant with buffet if you think u can stomach more than one portion.

Okonomiyaki is a kind of savory crepe-like that you prepare by yourself combining the ingredients that you like the most and cooking the dough on a small teppayaky (iron griddle). Each client is provided with the ingredient and the griddle. It is a very funny experience in which you will be assistend by some gentle Japanese clients. This specialty is original from Osaka where is it very popular, but you can taste it also in Tokyo if you go to Tsukishima district where you can find a lot of small unexpensive restaurants where to try this uncommon and tasty recipe. Good appetite and good luck

A very busy street with a lot of everything going around. Can easily spend a lot of time sitting in the corner sipping tea while watching busy people rush by

Tsukishima is the place to go if you want to have monjayaki, the Tokyo version of the more popular okonomiyaki from Osaka or Hiroshima. There are some monjayaki restaurants scattered around Tokyo but not many specialise in them like those in tsukishima. There are more than 50 shops selling monjayaki on the street just a few steps from Tsukishima station. Some shops only sell monjayaki while some others sell other food items like yakisoba as well as monjayaki.

We chose a random shop that only sells monjayaki. The menu has different types of toppings such as octopus, mentaiko and pork for the monja. The base is made up of the same ingredients, cabbage and flour. Overall, it was an unique experience as eating the monja with a small spatula was really interesting and cannot be experienced elsewhere.

I feel like the only thing to do on Tsukishima Monja Street is to eat (and play pachinko), but that's good enough for me.

As expected, this street is known for its monjayaki and they're great, cheap eats. It's fun getting to cook your own.
