“Awesome value and great fun!”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

My husband and I have stayed at the Ninja hostel for one week and had such a fun time. We had a private bunk room which was cosy but all we needed. The hostel is well placed and gives you a good excuse to use the crazy Tokyo rail system. There is a vending machine outside the hostel and there is nothing like buying a beer, or sake from a machine... it is a must. The communal room is fun and we met a wide variety of people from across the globe. The staff are wonderful and very helpful, one young lass helped us buy wressling tickets at Tokyo Dome (which was awesome too BTW) and even wrote us notes in Japanese to help when we were dealing with the locals. This hostel is clean, fun and great value!

We stayed in a private 2 bunk room in late April 2011. I'm 190cm tall, and managed to fit in with some room to spare. The quality of the room was good at a great price.

The shared bathroom facilities were clean and well-maintained. Loved the advice about how to rent a love hotel on the back of the toilet door!

The free WI-FI was a great way to unwind after big days out exploring Tokyo. It was close to several subway and train stations that made getting around Tokyo and back to the hostel easy.

There was some late night noise with the room being located next to the floor's entrance and stairwell (a heavy fire door slamming occasionally), but not enough to keep me from sleeping.

The hostel is very modern, it has a great common room and kitchen in the basement. The desk staff were helpful and friendly.

I'd definitely stay there again.

We have stayed in over 100 hostels around the world and this one is in the top 10.
It is in a great location minutes from every thing by train. It is easy to find from the station and only a couple of minutes walk. no problem if you have a heavy bag. There are many stairs but if this worries you then request a lower floor. It was very very eady from the airport one train took us all the way to Asakusabashi station.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, allowing you to check in if you are early and leave your baggage. We are travelling around for 2 weeks and then will return and we can leave our excess bags here the whole time! as we are returning for another night, great service.

We have staryed in some real dumps for more money than this! it is great value. You are in a major cit yafter all. We are sleeping in the little cabin beds are they are comfy and cozy. You have your own private mini room. I would not recomend them for tall people though 6ft plus. There are other normal beds however. Also the only downside to these cabins are the sliding doors which a little noisy but it depends who slides them!

There is a lovely kitchen and seating area, tv, movies, nintendo wii, free tea and coffee. Beer and soft drinks on site from the vending machine and they are not over charging you as many places do!

All in all this place is clean, comfy, safe, helpful and convenient. The littles things are taken care of which makes all the difference (such as soap, hand towls and hair dryers).

well done Khaosan Tokyo Ninja and all the lovely staff here!

Whilst this Hostel means well and genuinely tries it's best, it's let down by it's simple construction.
The walls are waffer thin - you can literally hear what people are saying in the rooms surrounding you. The rooms themselves are a weird shape and finding space to sit down, place a suit case and generally live in that room is quite difficult.

The hostel is cleaned by other travellers who are provided with a bed and stay time in exchange for cleaning the hostel. Whether they do a good job or not very much depends on the person staying there at the time.

Having said all this though, the staff are quite helpful, there's heaps of tourist information including tips on how to get places and the cost of the place is very good.
If you're just looking for a place to stay, a roof over your head and a bed to sleep on it's perfect value - Just don't expect 5 star quality...

We stayed here for a single night after deciding to extend our stay in Tokyo by a night. We stayed in the cabin dorm beds and they were OK although they seemed quite dated. It did at times feel like sleeping in a coffin so if you are claustrophobic I wouldn't recommend it.

The hostel seems quite lively so don't expect an early night. The staff and facilities are pretty good and the location is perfect for exploring this great city.

I stayed here for 3 weeks in December 2009 before finding permanent accommodation and embarking on a 6 month stay in Japan. The central location was perfect for sight seeing; right near Asakusa, Akihabara, and only 25 mins by train to Shibuya and Shinjuku.

I stayed in a cabin bed which was cosy, and surprisingly not too small. The facilities were clean, and it was great having a common room with a full kitchen so I could cook my own meals too. Not glamorous by a long shot, but value for money as far as hostel accommodation goes.
