“Good Business Class Hotel”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

Good hotel for short business stay.

Multiple subway lines close by, however the if you want to get on the major lines you will need to walk about 15mins to Tokyo Station.

Sightseeing - Tskiji Fish Market is just one subway stop away. Other than that I can't really think of anywhere within walking distance.

Breakfast - Simple breakfast is served at the hotel lobby, however the chairs is not very comfortable.

Staff - Helpful and attentive.

Getting there from airport will require taking the airport limo to TCAT, and a short 10 mins drive by Taxi (less than 1'000 Yen).

The Hotel Villa Fontaine Hatchobori is located near Tokyo station on the Hibiya subway line. As mentioned on their website, Hatchobori station is about a 3 minute walk from the hotel, however, Kayabacho station is even closer (just make sure to take exit 1 or 2). Both are on the Hibiya line which in my opinion is one of the better subway lines to be on in Tokyo.

We had a few difficulties initially finding the place, however, once found it was very easy. It's in a street directly behind the main road (look up for signage along that street and you will see the Villa Fontaine sign illuminated if you are nearby). While there is nothing immediately of interest nearby it was a great location for getting around the east side of Tokyo (Akihabara, Asakusa, Ginza, Odaiba, Disneyland, Tsukiji, Tokyo Skytree, etc).

Reception was polite, well trained and helpful and the price was very cheap by Tokyo standards.

The room itself was clean, modern, quiet and very reasonably sized for a 3 star Japanese hotel. Free wifi and breakfast was available on the ground floor and while breakfast was passable we found the many little restaurants along the same street as the hotel were simply too fantastic to not eat at.

The only reason I rate this hotel as average and not excellent was the terrible beds. I actually like firm beds but ours was bordering on the ridiculous. We asked to change rooms however were informed that the beds were the same in all the rooms. This was a real shame as everything else about this hotel was very good. Neither my girlfriend or I got much sleep over the 5 nights we stayed and unfortunately we were both very happy to leave when our time was up.

I would have loved to have given the Villa Fontaine Hatchobori a higher rating but those beds are just too hard to sleep on.

Room Tip: Eat in the restaurants on the small street near the hotel. They are fantastic and well priced. Ex...

Spent 7 nights here in August 2013, and was well satisfied. Neighbourhood is a quiet area (if you want to be in the midst of the partying you'll obviously be looking at hostels/hotels in other districts anyway), with a lot of small restaurants and bars around it. Easy to get in and out of (15 min walk to Tokyo Station, a few minutes to Hatchobori or Kayabacho subway stations (providing Hibiya, Keiyō, Tozai lines). The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful at check-in and check-out (at the latter, organising for the forwarding of my luggage to the next hotel in Kyoto was a breeze).

Room was small, but didn't lack anything and was clean and fairly contemporary in decor. No complaint about cleaning and restocking of amenities. Double bed comfortable. View was out over office buildings and hotels but that didn't fuss me. TV was easy to use, mostly Japanese-language channels but I didn't come to Japan to watch TV so also not something that fussed me. Air conditioned, of course, which was a blessing at the height of a humid summer.

All in all, as a convenient base in Tokyo for someone travelling alone it was an excellent hotel.

Very decent, kind , reponsible , well- traoned staff provide high standard service! Good location(
Little bit hard to find at the first time because it behind the main street) - walking 15 mins to Tokyo station, 7mims to JR and 5mins to MRT staionsand only 4 stops to Disney! In a business area so tidy and not noisy or full of tourist. Lots of restaurants, convenient stores and phamarcy. Very clean and comfotable room with reasonable bathroom size. Only thing can say is all rooms are double beds so not suits to everyone.

Didn't know until I arrived that this hotel has only been open for a couple of months. Handily located about 10 mins from Tokyo station in a district that has lots of local food and drink places. Hotel looks nice and the rooms are clean and well equipped, expect typical Japan room sizes though. Breakfast is simple but edible but it is really the location that makes it worth it for this hotel, being off the main streets makes it quiet and the breadth of local eateries and bars is brilliant.

Was in Tokyo on a business trip for 3 nights. On arrival we were greeted very cordially by the reception staff. In fact throughout the stay the staff was very cooperative & helpful. All the staff members we interacted with could communicate in English. They were pretty good at giving directions & tips to reach any place & also gave useful suggestions on shopping. Even the lady manning the breakfast area was very courteous. It was pouring on teh second day of my stay> the staff arranged an umbrella so that I could venture out in the evening. Unfortunately the umbrella broke as it wasvery windy outside & when i reported the matter on my return, they just asked me to forget about it!
For a solo traveller, the room was of adequate size. The room & the bathroom were pretty well maintained and had all the essentials. However there is no great view from the rooms as there are office blocks all around. Maybe from the front rooms you could get a view of the street below (I had a room at the back).
The breakfast spread was just about adequate for those on a business trip. However, there are sever al restaurants in the vicinity of the Hotel - enough to spoil you for a choice. Being located in a commercial area, you would find very little people at dinner time though at lunch time quite busy. For Indian visitors the good news that there is a small Indian restaurant around the corner. It is not something to write home about but for those seking vegetarian food - you have an option.
The Hotel is within walking distance of 3 metro stations - the farthest being a 10 minute walk away. The connections are such that you could perhaps reach the farthest end of Tokyo within 45 minutes. The Tokyo City Air Terminal is a short 10 min drive by taxi for which you have to pay the minimum fare. One could reach the airport from the Hotel in about an hour & 15 minutes. using this route. Alternatively one could take the Narita Express fromTokyo Station Tokyo Station is about a 20 minute walk & the Ginja area about a kilometre & half away.
There is an internet station at the lobby. The only problem is that the Hotel provides guests the opportunity of viewing Japanese TV channels only.

Room Tip: Street facing rooms on higher floors
