“Just perfect for a few days in Tokyo”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2013

I stayed 4 days in this hotel with my boyfriend. Even the room was small (all hotels rooms in Tokyo seem to be small) was really comfortable. Great double bed, nice shower, excellent amenities.
2 minutes walking from Jimbocho St (metro) and nice location to explore Tokyo.
There isn't wifi in the room, only in the lobby. Includes breakfast, that was great because most hotels on its range (about 100u$s) dont include it.

-walking distance to Jimbocho Station and JR Suidobashi Station.
-very clean but small room(hardly any place for your luggage).
-directly opposite 7 eleven and walk up about 3-5minutes and for some Ramen and McDonalds.
-buffet breakfast(usually corn soup/buns/salad/meat balls or sausages/eggs and coffee and tea),limited seating area and weekdays starts from 7-9:30 and weekends from 7-10am.
-forget about the wifi thingy...just go opposite to 7 eleven and buy a drink(plenty of tables and chairs inside)and you can use the wifi there for free...and without login,or else just stand near to the lobby of the hotel to acquire the free wifi with very weak signal.
-very strong curry smells due to next building being a restaurant.
-very silent in room(good sound proofing)despite being on the main road.
-mattress and pillow of average but comes with ionizer & dehumifier in room.
-not much activities at night unless you walk up towards Suidobashi Station for some pachinko slot machine.

Good hotel - good price! We paid a 30% earlybird rate and the total was roughly US$80 incl tax. Very good value for the location. Walking distance to Tokyo Metro (Jimbocho station closest), Yasukuni Shrine and the Imerial Palace Gardens. Decent breakfast buffet too. Small room but that's all we needed. $80 for a small room, breakfast in a central Tokyo hotel is good bang for your buck if you ask me.

A not so small room from Japan standard, with all basic amenities and english support and an excellent location is one of the best hotels to be in.

Some drawback is limited option in breakfast which is ok as lot of convenience store around and starbucks, McD around.

We stayed at Hotel Villa fontaine Kudanshita for 3 days in Aug 2010. The hotel itself was ok:
Bad Pts:
1. Refrigerator in the hotel provided very little cooling!
2. Breakfast was very limited choice.
3. Rooms very small, TV was extremely small.

Good Pts:
1. Was near 2 metro stations (sudobashi).
2. In the university area so a lot of restaurants around.
3. Near Tokyo Dome.

I stayed in this hotel for 8 days on the recommendation of a colleague who travels frequently to our Tokyo office

The room I booked, with a bit of difficulty over the Internet, was small and clean with a bed and a desk. There were several small hooks to hang clothes from and a small refrigerator in the entryway. The room had no dresser or closet because there simply is not enough space. Hey, it's Tokyo. I was happy.

The location is decent for transit. The airport hotel bus goes to the nearby Grand Palace Hotel. You can walk to the Villa Fontaine Kudanshita from there. Access to several Tokyo metro lines is very convenient.

I was probably the only guest in the hotel who wasn't a Japanese business person. Definitely no traveler scene here as there is no bar or restaurant and breakfast was a bare-bones but reasonable scene. The buffet had some pastries, salads and always a hot soup.

The neighborhood is okay -- nothing outstanding but very close to the old geisha quarter, the Grand Palace and, as I mentioned before, well-situated for transit.

My room was spotlessly cleaned every day and, just to end on a high note, I miss Japanese toilets!

We stayed at Villa Fontaine's Roppongi Annex for a week and thought we'd try here just for a change of scenery. As expected, the customer service was flawless, the place was very clean and modern, the rooms were large for Tokyo and the breakfast was ordinary. It's a glorified business hotel but for price, size and furnishings, you just can't beat this chain of hotels. We should've stayed at the Roppongi one because the room was a little bigger and we had a closet to hang some clothes rather than a few hooks on the wall. Nevertheless, it's still a decent place. Oh, it's sort of in a business district but you ar still close to a large number of cultural spots, good restaurants and of course, transport. Despite being on a semi-major road, the windows are thick and we could barely hear the traffic.

  • Liked — Largeish rooms and relatively cheap
  • Disliked — the breakfast and lack of places to hang clothes
