“Fantastic Views, Perfect Location, Beautiful Lobby”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2013

I stayed at the Metropolitan Marunouchi for a week in April 2013. This hotel offers a great balance of convenience and comfort.

1) Location. It is located near the Nihombashi exit of the Tokyo Station. A tad hard to figure out the first time but really easy once you get oriented. This means easy access to trains and metros. It also is close to a station outside the tokyo station if you don't want to fight the crowds. If you fly to Narita, take the NEX to Tokyo Station, 30mns ride, and 10mns walk through the station. Cabs stop by the station in the morning, easy to catch one as well. You can also walk to the Imperial Palace from the hotel (and if you are a runner, there is a 2mi pedestrian path around it).

2) Ambiance, views and rooms: The hotel lobby is perched way high (I think 23rd floor) which means every room is located on high floors. I had a view of the Tokyo Station itself. Beautiful spectacle at night! Quiet and relaxing. Lobby is trendy with a nice miniature model of the Tokyo Station.
Rooms are small (welcome to Japan!) but I felt it had everything I needed. They promptly brought me anything I asked for (extra hangers, iron etc). All in all it feels modern, the dark colors of the corridors, the modern look of the elevators and lobby. All makes you feel this is a nice clean modern hotel.

Cons? Not easy to find the first time (there is really no sign on the building itself) You have to take 2 elevators to get to your room (1 to get to the lobby, 1 lobby to room) but that's minor. Prices were decent for Tokyo (cheaper than surrounding hotels). Their restaurant/bar is nice, with good views too but a bit expensive. If you want to go shopping for food or groceries, there is a 7-11 at the entrance of the station and a few stores in the building. I still felt it could use more cafes, restaurants etc..

Room Tip: My colleague had a slightly smaller room. Not sure what to ask. When you book I think they have opti...

I travelled to Japan with my son during Oct 15-22, 2013 and stay at Hotel Metropolitan Marunouchi for 7 nights. Warmest welcome from hotel staffs, courtesy and polite for checking-in. Room is very comfortable and great value. Location of the hotel is the most advantage for traveller since very near to JR, Shinkansen and a lot of shopping mall underground the station. I request for something special for hard pillow and it reach to me more than I expect. Excellent service. I and my son also enjoyed with breakfast at Teenqoo Room on 27th floor, with variety of food in many style. Overall I really enjoy staying in this hotel and recommend for other travellers. Wish to stay to this hotel very near future.

Situated above the Tokyo Railway station, in walking distance of Ginza shopping and hundreds of eating and shopping options this was a great Hotel to stay at. Service was friendly and excellent, rooms smallish but with lovely views especially our corner room which was worth the extra for the wrap round views. The restaurant we felt was overpriced and disappointing and the bar area with smokers made it uninviting but there are so many other close by options that it didn't matter. You would be hard pressed to find a better more reasonably priced option.

Room Tip: Take a corner room for the great views.

Located in central tokyo (next to tokyo station), the location is excellent for business visits as well as entry and exit to the airport via NEX airport express. Rooma are quite small though efficiently designed. Breakfast spread is limited and getting people who speak english can be a problem esp in night shift.

Pro: reasonable price for the accommodation in this expensive city. Con: small room.

Was in Tokyo for 4 nights. The Metropolitan Marunouchi is right next to the Tokyo Station which makes it convenient. Other reviewers have commented that the hotel is too far away from other more popular cities but I personally did not mind the location. The hotel is within walking distance (if you are a walker) to Ginza and only two blocks from Nihombashi. I would imagine most if not all of the rooms provides a nice view of the city as the lobby of the hotel is on the 27th floor and the rooms are all located above that. Compliments to the hotel staff and their excellent service, as it is typical of Japanese service and hospitality. Most of the lobby staff spoke some English, which is a rather rare commodity in this large metropolitan city. I had a massage one evening and the experience was well worth the price ($117 for 90 minutes) and they come right to your room. Overall, the price for the accommodation and location was fair. The room was nice and clean but small. I would recommend it to any traveler looking for >3.5 stars rating at a moderate price (relative to Tokyo standards).

We stayed at the Hotel Metropolitan Marunouchi for 2 nights, then traveled out of Tokyo and returned to stay for 3 more nights. The hotel is extremely convenient, located at Tokyo Station, with transportation and hundreds of restaurant choices nearby. Staff was very friendly and helpful and we felt warmly welcomed every time we entered. We really liked the peaceful quiet of the hotel, including the lobby, which had nice space to meet up with people, sit and plan. The hotel was very accommodating and kept our big luggage free of charge when we took our little bags for a 3 night vacation from Tokyo.

Our first room was a corner king with fabulous views. Our second was a deluxe twin. Both rooms were really nice, with sufficient space, great views, nice bathrooms. The deluxe twin room was larger and we preferred it for the additional space. Discounts are offered for early booking, so it pays to plan ahead.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again. As someone mentioned in an earlier post – there are two hotels with similar names – the Marunouchi and Metropolitan Marunouchi. Keep this in mind when doing your travel planning.

Room Tip: All rooms have huge windows. Corner king has amazing views, esp at night, but we preferred the delux...

The hotel is the top few floors of the office block. I think reception is floor 27 and the rooms are above that. This means that whatever room you are in you should have a fantastic view. We looked directly down on the station from floor 31 and could watch the Shinkansens coming and going. I got the room at about £110 a night for 3 nights which seemed a great deal (no breakfast).
The room was normal size for a 4* hotel and the service and reception area was great.
The breakfast and restaurant in general was really expensive so we used the two Starbucks (sorry but it was the end of holiday and western food was needed) one on the 2nd floor of the hotel (go to ground floor, walk around the front of the building (staying inside) and take the escalators up to Starbucks where the windows face the railway line - this is a much quieter Starbucks than the one across the way from the hotel.
The hotel is basically attached to the massive Tokyo station and was a good location for wandering into Ginza and around the shopping areas and over towards the Imperial Palace area.
It was also great for an early start to get the N'Ex back to the airport - efficient train but misuse of the word express - as we could just wander down to the platform with our suitcases. Tokyo station is MASSIVE so make sure you know your route to the N'Ex platform - we checked it out on our last night. Tokyo Station - loads and loads of restaurants in the basement, huge department store etc. etc. etc.

If you want some Western indulgence try the Georgette Tea Room, attached to the Bridgestone Art Gallery (maximum 10 minutes walk from hotel) Cream tea to die for, we were at the end of our holiday and thought we might be biased so went the next day to try again and it was just as amazing.

Room Tip: They should all have amazing views!
