“Beautiful Hotel, Think Before You Book”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

This hotel is beautiful. I've stayed here twice and the location is superb if you're traveling through Tokyo Station which is literally right out the front door. The rooms are very nice, electronic window blinds and heated toilet seats. :-) Not kidding! This is Japan.
Having said that there are quirks here that I'm likely going to find another property for when I visit our Tokyo office.
1. The hotel does have smoking rooms. I was placed in one on my last visit. I don't smoke. There were no other rooms, for a week. Sigh.
2. I don't think this hotel is inexpensive and it doesn't look inexpensive. Just be prepared to pay.
3. The breakfast is not suited to western tastes, at all. If you like anything western for breakfast take a pass on the morning buffet. Go into Tokyo Station and hit Starbucks for a bagel.
4. While the hotel had my CC on file, they asked me to come down to the desk four days into my week long stay to approve charging my card for nights to date. I've not experienced this before especially since I registered and agreed to the total for the week.
In summary the hotel is very nice but it can't begin to compare to a number of other properties I've stayed in London, New York, Singapore, Los Angeles etc. I'm going to find alternatives and I'll post my findings then. Travel safely.

My colleague and I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions due to doing business in the area. The hotel presents well, and is in an excellent location, with a multitude of reception staff that, however, are reluctant to make their own decisions. The room sizes range from compact to
half reasonable, but its the western breakfasts that really pull them down.
Powdered looking, luke warm scrambled eggs, soggy, undercooked bacon and very little else that looks remotely edible are offered.
I realise it is JR railway hotel and not an International brand, but their reception staff and chefs could certainly benefit from some International training.

Room Tip: Just make sure to request the largest available room, as there is little room to access ones case o...

This is an excellent, and not too expensive, hotel in downtown Tokyo. I love it as you can catch the Narita Express from Narita airport to Tokyo station, and the hotel is right next door. The service is exemplary, everything works, and breakfast buffet is very nice. The hotel is located high up in the building - you catch an elevator to level 27- so it has great views of central Tokyo. There is a convenience store on the third level of the building if you want to get some snacks or a drink - room service is not cheap.

Room Tip: There are cheaper rooms looking inwards or slightly more expensive ones looking at the city. I stron...

I love JR Hotels and always find a great place to stay and a good price point with them. I have been to the Hotel Metropolitan Marunouchi a number of times and never have had a bad time.

While the Marunouchi area is often considered more of a business area, staying here offers good advantage to people traveling for fun, as this hotel is next Tokyo Station, one of the main travel hubs.

The hotel itself is great. The rooms are average in size for most Tokyo hotels I have been to, but more than enough for most people used to travel in big cities. They are always clean and modern. If you do not feel the need for a view or larger room, I have had good luck with the 'quietude' double rooms. They have a view of a inside courtyard, but are a good value and yes, they are very quite.

The restaurant is nice, if you must eat in the hotel, but lots of other places to eat in the station and area around. Starbucks just inside Tokyo Station by the hotel, if you want a quick bite in the morning. For those new to travel in Japan, do not fear eating in office buildings, department stores and train stations. The best food can often be found there.

The people at the desk are great and always helpful. They have free WiFi in the lobby and in the business center, but not in the rooms. That said, some of the rooms will still be able to pick it up. As imperfect as that is, it is still better than most hotels I have been to in Japan, where you are just out of luck when it comes to free WiFi. This is a fact of travel in Japan.

All and all a nice hotel, fair Tokyo price, run by helpful people and great location.

Great location for our trip - we traveled north to Akita and the hotel is right by the gate for the bullet trains heading north. The staff is very friendly and helped us get our luggage to the train gate. Overall, just a nice spot.

We stayed in a superior queen on the 27th floor overlooking the railyards but also looking out over the city with a peek of the harbour. Despite being over the yards, the sound proofing was excellent. This hotel has it all - convenient location to the train station, airport connections and an information centre across the road. As well, there are plenty of food options in the station. The hotel provides a reasonably clear map to navigate the way from the narita express to the hotel (we did need some help - but found the locals and police only too willing to assist). The room was small but had two chairs, footstool, little table, fridge, tea & coffee facilities and did not feel cramped. Loads of amenities are provided in the bathroom including toothbrush and paste, hairbrush, hairband, tissues, cotton wipes and shaver and lotion. We were there when it was HOT, the airconditioning was quiet and effective. We will definitely stay here again.

5 star service:
They really went above and beyond to make us feel at home in such a foreign (to us) place. They let us borrow umbrellas, gave us maps, and were quick, efficient, and polite. We left some stuff in the hotel and they even packaged it all up for us.

Location:
Perfect location as the hotel is right outside the Nihonbashi exit from Tokyo Station. It's also steps away from the local convenient store (frequented by locals!) and in the same building as local restaurants and etc.
