“Best City Hotel, Loved it!”
Reviewed May 13, 2010

My husband and I stayed at the Peninsula for a week. We loved every part of it and really could not think of a single negative. Our room was the best city hotel room we have ever stayed in- the layout is perfect. The bathroom/ dressing area is separated from the sleeping area. This was great because I always got up earlier than my husband. The closet/dressing area is awesome with a vanity in the closet and plenty of hanging room, suitcase space & shopping bag space. The bathroom has a "spa" button when pressed the lights dim and the spa music comes on! The space is perfectly set up for traveling, enough space for 2 huge suitcases, very comfortable and easy to feel at home.
We had a park view which was perfect because we were lucky enough to be there during the cherry blossoms and were able to see the trees from our room at breakfast every morning. Room service was prompt, great selection and beautiful presentation. The spa was fabulous, especially the relaxation room. Did not try the indoor pool. We tried Sunday afternoon high tea- it was lovely. The lobby bar seamed to be the place to be for Tokyo's lunching ladies so it was fun to be around them- very bustling, sophisticated and high energy. Also, on the weekend there was a wedding everyday. In the basement you can get food to go- for a picnic in the gardens. We tried the rooftop lounge for lunch and drinks- great view, drinks, and delicious lunch. The hotel is 5 min walk to Ginza and the Royal Gardens- loved that. The service and staff were perfect, gracious and kind.
Will definitely go back to the Peninsula next time we are in Tokyo!

Stayed on the 23rd floor...great city view. Beautiful room. Staff was excellent. Dinner at the restaurant on the top floor was also very good, and the cocktail happy hour was the best deal going. All of this being said, the hotel rate is by no means cheap: we paid around $550 a night.

We stayed for three nights at the Peninsula on a recent trip to Tokyo. The hotel is indeed impressive and probably one of the best that we've stayed in. The room are huge - even for the entry level deluxe room - which we stayed in - and we loved the modern amenities and technological gadgets that came along with it. The location is also superb - walking distance to ginza and easy accessibility to the metro and yamanote line. Breakfast in the lobby was good but a little pricey. All in all a great stay - will definitely stay here again in Tokyo ! :)

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for five nights in March with our two young children (ages 10 & 11). This hotel is in an incredible location overlooking the Imperial Palace. The staff was incredibly accomodating. My wife was ill the day we checked in and because we arrived before our room was ready, the staff provided us with another room to stay in. What a lifesaver! When our room was ready, we were upgraded to a two bedroom suite overlooking the Imperial Gardens. It even included cookies and treats for the kids! The restaurants were great. Plus, two consecutive mornings at breakfast, we were treated to a traditional Japanese wedding party coming through the lobby. What an experience.

Stayed at the Peninsula for 3 nights. The location was good, close to the station, lots of izakaya and restaurant nearby. The room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable (especially after spending some nights sleeping on futtons at several ryokans). The bathroom was large and beautiful, equipped with a shower and a bathtub with a TV. Really love the dressing room. The bar (I think its called Peter) was great and has a good selection of sake. The view at Peter bar was also nice. The staffs were extremely helpful. All of the staffs (even the door man) spoke excellent English. They gave us several maps of Tokyo (Ginza area, general Tokyo area, Shinjuku area, etc) and clear direction. We ask them to book us some Michelin stars restaurant. They manage to book Ryugin for us (even though its quite impossible since generally you have to book this restaurant 2 months in advance). We were very lucky. The staff prints the restaurant’s map, show us the picture of the restaurant door (since the restaurant has no signage), and show our taxi driver the direction to get us there. Everything was perfect. Will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel due to its glowing reviews, and we were not disappointed. This hotel has set such a high bench mark all others seem ordinary. The lobby is most impressive and has a magnificent chandelier. Great location overlooking the Imperial Palace gardens and located in the Paris end of town, Ginza. Our room had every creature comfort you could ever wish for. The master control was to die for; you could even adjust the room humility. Great sound system, choice of room lighting was brilliant! The room was huge with separate dressing room and a enormous bathroom. You will get a kick out of the toilet but tend to spend a bit too long fiddling with the various controls :-) The WC was discretely separated from main bathroom) !
Staff extremely helpful and polite and spoke very good English. We hired the hotel's BMW bikes so we could cover a lot of area in a much quicker time than if we had walked. The bike hire was a bit too pricey, however we had a great time. This hotel is not cheap but pretty much on par with other 5 star hotels in Tokyo, so it was well worth the money. Peter's restaurant was smokey and overpriced and nothing to write home about. Our room had just as good a view as Peter's so after dinner we purchased champagne and we enjoyed the wonderful view in private. If your not under 25, go to the restaurant downstairs for happy hour (much better value without the smokers) . Food was great, atmosphere wonderful. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to spoil themselves.

This was the last hotel we stayed in on a 3 week tour of Japan and most definitely the best. The location was great on the edge of the Imperial Palace gardens and close to all the classy shops in Ginza. The room was huge with separate dressing room and a enormous bathroom. Lots of gadgets in the room which our 14yr old son thought great fun including a toilet seat which lifted up when you walked into the loo!
Staff extremely helpful and polite, and the highlight after a run around the Imperial Palace was greeted with a towel and bottle of water at the hotel door.
Not a cheap option but well worth it. Only slight caveat is don't eat at the Peter restaurant overpriced and over-rated - but do go to the bar for a drink and enjoy the view
