This was our first experience of a Peninsula Hotel and it was everything we had hoped and expected. Complete luxury.
The location of this hotel is amazing, looking onto the Imperial Palace Gardens.
The hotel have their own entrance to the metro network, so transport is made very easy.
Wonderful hotel in an amazing city.

The only word that comes to mind when describing the Peninsula in Tokyo - perfect! Perfect service, superior spacious rooms, amazing facilities. My husband and I stayed here in June 2014 and it was the highlight of our 2-week trip around Japan. The team at the Peninsula takes the renowned Japanese hospitality and service to another level! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a sophisticated, high-tech hotels located at one of the best areas in Tokyo. The hotel is equipped with everything that you may need and more. Super comfortable bed, luxurious linens, huge bathrooms, stunning views of Tokyo, including the Imperial Palace. My husband and I have both traveled extensively around the world, staying at first class hotels and we both agreed that the Peninsula takes the first place for service, facilities and personal touch. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Choose the room overlooking the Imperial Palace.

Husband and I spent two nights at the Peninsula Hotel. This is a first class hotel but it doesn't quite meet those first class expectations. It is does have an excellent location (A6 exit from nearby Metro station is very convenient). Should you have all your luggage etc, its only about $12 USD by cab from the Tokyo train station (where the Narita express is). There are also lovely Western friendly cafes and restaurants nearby on a tree lined street. Of all four hotels we stayed at in Japan, this hotel had by far the most channels available on the television in English.

Our relatively minor complaints:
1) The concierge desk. We asked the concierge to cancel a dinner reservation for 2 nights in the future we'd set up as it was far too late for us (9pm). We also asked for a recommendation for an earlier reservation for sushi. We needed to cancel since we still had not adjusted to the time zone as much as we'd thought. The reception at the concierge desk for this relatively simple request was chilly. She did eventually find us a great sushi restaurant but spent much of the time treated us like we are truly crazy for canceling our 9pm reservation.

2) Spotty Wifi Internet. Both hubby and I were continually dropped from the Wifi network on our iPads during simple surfing.

3) Front desk & check out. When you check in, the hotel asks at what time you'll be leaving at check out. We replied at 10:30a, well before the normal checkout. The morning of our check out we decided to leave at noon instead. We stopped by the front desk to alert the staff of our change, told her our room number and we were told that this was no problem. However at 11a when we tried to access our room, the door key was disabled and we had to go back down to the front desk and re-activate our key. This is annoying because it is well before the actual check out time of the hotel and because we had properly notified the front desk of our change. Also upon check out, the line was fairly long although it did move quickly. Give yourself a few extra minutes if checking out at noon for both the front desk and grabbing a cab.

It seems silly but these minor complaints are why I'm not sure I'd stay again. We also stayed at the Conrad in Tokyo during our stay and I'd go back there (although I do think that this location is very marginally better than the Conrad). The service in general was very good but not to the exceptional standard that we'd experienced at other 5 star hotels during our stay in Japan.

We stayed at The Peninsula on August 2013 for about a week. The lobby was a bit small, but other than that everything else was excellent. Friendly staff and spacious room with all the fancy facility. Even my kids love it a lot. The bathroom is superb. They also prepared everything for my kids. Starting from toothbrushes for children to stool for them to reach the bathroom sink. We also love the spacious walking closet. We stayed in Tokyo for about a week and simply had a good and comfortable rest at The Peninsula everyday. Definitely one of my best hotel stay and will come back again.

I recently got back from Tokyo and our stay at the Peninsula was definitely a highlight of the trip. From the moment we got out of the cab to checking out of the hotel, everything was top notch and we couldn't be happier. The room wasn't ready when we arrived, so we enjoyed the tempura downstairs and it was definitely the best we have ever had and the food and service was impeccable.

After a great meal, the room still wasn't quite ready because of an electrical problem, but a few moments later and we were being escorted to our room and wow what a room it was. The bellman opened the door and my mouth hit the ground I'm sure.

The only downside was brunch in the bakery downstairs. The waffles were cold and a little hard, but I think that must have been a misstep because everything else was top notch and we will definitely be back when we visit Tokyo next year and the Peninsula definitely have a customer for life as this was the Best Hotel Room we have stayed at and we have stayed at some stellar resorts!

You may ask why the exit number? Because, the subway beats the taxi in this town, and this property has it's own access to the subway which is cool. The hotel overlooks the Imperial Gardens, and the view through the large floor-to-ceiling windows is impressive. Like in the Hong Kong property the restaurant is located in the lobby(small, but, elegant) at ground level, creating a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are large by any standard. The walk-in closet is the size of most basic Japanese hotel rooms. The shower pressure is good, the bathroom is huge. I love the dumb waiter--you don't have to interact with anyone if that is your wish; there is a sense of privacy and calm throughout this hotel.
Prices are not any more than other Peninsula properties, but, the Chinese breakfast at $42 was a little disappointing, although tasty. Ginza shopping is just a few blocks away, but, the real pleasure is the street side dining, izakaya style, under the rail way, a minute's walk from the hotel, across the street. Look for the Godzilla statue and Starbucks and get munching. It's busy, loud and fun.

Yes the hotel is pricey but what a hotel it is!!! Opulence everywhere you look. Absolutely quiet in every regard (elevators, heating/cooling system, room to room insulation). Gorgeous room with more features than you could imagine - even your own work station with fax/copier/scanner. A toilet that defies description as it has more functions than I have EVER seen on a toilet including the toilet seat that raised automatically when you opened the door, a heated seat, and a triple option bidet with dryer. But the best feature of the hotel is its staff as they are all beyond courteous and helpful.

The Peninsula Tokyo has spoiled us for life. Wow.
