“AMAZING!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013 via mobile

This is a wonderful hotel from the beginning to the end! Ginza shopping is at your doorstep and Hibiya station immediately by the hotel makes the location unbeatable. Maranouchi is only minutes away and is extremely picturesque! Very latge rooms with walkin closet and huge bathrooms. Toilet is state of the art, other nice touches include nail dryer (!) and how they deliver the morning newpapers to a little box in room. Everything is very discrete but very efficient. Only "criticism" would be there wasnt much of a view from our room on 8/F and Concierge can be a little more friendly and personable.

Few complaints really, although perhaps lacking a little of the style of some other Peninsula hotels (e.g. the lobby feels small for a Peninsula, concierge service a little slow). But in terms of rooms and location its right up there. Really fantastic room - big, comfy, huge bathroom, slept incredibly well. Location is great, easy to get anywhere, shops galore in Ginza on your doorstep and the Imperial Palace is great for your morning run. Nice pool also. Very happy.

Great location, absolutely amazing big perfect rooms in a town where space is at a big premium. Service extremely friendly. Real indoor pool with a view and outside balcony. Only slight drawback the lobby which is small and sometimes crowded.
Peninsula is usually great but with Japanese attention to details it is perfect. I will be back.

The Peninsula is in a very grown up area of Tokyo, overlooking the Imperial Palace and close to the Ginza/Maronuchi upmarket shopping area. The hotel is medium height (24 floors) with a neat area in fron with cloud pruned pine trees. The lobby area is a bit disappointing as it houses an all day restaurant (there are always people eating) and there is no where much to sit if you need to. Our rooms, however, were amazing with enormous bathrooms with a separate loo, lovely shower, a double ended bath, tv set in to the wall, two basins and so on. All marble and very well fitted. We also had a separate dressing room with dressing table and large hanging rails. In the bedroom the temperature controls were amazing with humidity control as well as heat and air con. Floor to ceiling blinds lower at the touch of a button. I could go on.
Service in the hotel was top notch too. My only and very small complaint is that there is no easily accessible bar for meeting other members of the family, you had to go down in one lift and then up in another to the top floor. I imagine this is to deter the public from coming in and hanging around, but we really needed somewhere easy near the lobby to meet our friends before heading out.

This was my first stay at the Peninsula but not, I hope, my last. Although I am no stranger to luxury hotels, I have never had a room like this one. It was more like a suite that included a living room, dining area, built-in desk and entertainment console. Best of all were the huge bathroom and walk-in closet/dressing room, both of which were incredibly spacious and luxurious. Not only did the closet/dressing room have tons of space for both suitcases and clothes, but it had a dressing table where you could do your hair and makeup. In the bathroom, the expected Toto toilet was the ultra-deluxe model that raises and lowers its lid as you enter the glass booth, flushes automatically and not only washes your nether regions but dries them with warm air. I loved the double sinks, fabulous bathtub (with a beautiful limestone wall behind it) and huge shower. The only trouble with the shower was that water leaked out the door a bit.

My package came with breakfast, which turned out to be any breakfast I wanted--including the delicious 4,200 yen full Japanese or Western breakfast. Delicious! The staff was friendly, professional and capable of anything--including sending my suitcase to another hotel while I traveled around on the Shinkansen.

My only complaint was the spa, which though luxurious was overpriced and offered the most useless shiatsu I've ever had at (by far) the most exorbitant price. While I enjoyed chatting in Japanese with the masseuse, she did not begin to get the knots out. I had to go to Kyoto for a real shiatsu by a real professional, at less than half the price.

Room Tip: I think they're all good. I faced the Ginza, which was fine. Others might prefer the park/Palace...

Married mid-age couple visiting Japan, we organised the holiday by ourselves and choosed Peninsula for the excellent reviews we found an tripadvsor. It was the first hotel during our trip and we were happy with our choice.
It is a quality 5-star hotel in shopping and business district targeting mainly business travelers, the large room (with separate dressing) was very useful when carrying luggage for 3-weeks holiday.

As traveller coming from Europe, do not expect however an unique unbelievable experience full of exotism (comparable with Shangri-la or Mandarin Oriental in Singapour, Hong Kong or Bangkok, for instance). The place is confortable, unbelievable clean, efficient service - we were somehow disappointed not to find too much "Japanese soul" inside.

The breakfast is very basic - there are no real restaurants, just the one organised in the lobby. It is the standard for Tokyo center (hotels located in general-purpose towers, buildings are not designed as hotels, the only common spaces are the lobby, the floor with sauna, eventually the bar on the last floor etc.)
The major part of the ground floor is rented to luxury "international" shops (not much interest - brands you never heard about, Italian-French-Swiss flavour quite expensive, nothing Japanese) - reminds me about Moscow.

Surprisingly the lobby restaurant is always full - looks like it is a trendy place for business lunch during the week, and for rich family "dejeuner" on the weekend.

Location is very convenient, direct acces (hotel underground) to Hibyia metro line and 2 min pleasant walk to Yarakucho JR station. Less than 1000 Yen (8€) by taxi to Tokyo station for Shinkansen, NEX trains etc. Plenty of restaurants around (direction to Ginza) however be careful the vaste majority close at 11pm and dont accept new customers after 10pm. Finding a place to eat becomes critical after 10pm, as restaurants are located inside the towers and dont display at street level the time of "last order" (or display in Japanese only, it is the same), means you will enter 10 buildings looking for a place to eat, it is disaster. There is a 24x7 fastfood close to hotel, we do not recommend.

In conclusion, perfect base to start Tokyo discovery - no bad surprise and no stress (except issue with late dinner). Have to admit Tokyo is not a place for tourists looking for extravaganza and low-price shopping Asian-style, but for those eager to discover a sofisticated world comparable (if not superior) to Western Europe. You have to adapt to local rules, do not expect that everything is organised to satisfy your needs as a tourist.

Room Tip: We were satisfied with the Premium rooms (city-view)

Stayed here for 3 nights over a busy Easter long weekend.

Despite full occupancy and the busy traffic the hotel and its staff never lost its composure. Everything was efficient and all service delivered with sincerity.

I booked the superior room. Though that this the cheapest room, it was spacious and comfortable.

Hotel is in a perfect location for me within walking distance to Ginza and the metro is just right below the hotel. Places like roppingi and ueno are on the same line.

I took the hotel's bicycle and it was a treat to cycle around the palace area. Highly recommend.

Had lunch at Hei Fung Terrace and enjoyed great dim sum.

Unlike the grand Hyatt...the pool is free for guests and was not crowded on both occasions I visited.
