“Best hotel ever!”
Reviewed April 6, 2013

Located centrally to everything fabulous in Tokyo, our time at this hotel was spectacular! The concierge service was very helpful and the mini-coup available to our suite was also an unexpected perk. The corner view of the park and the palace was an added bonus. The only thing I didn't care for was the weird smelling shampoo and conditioner, (a minor accommodation flaw).
In addition, the bar at the top of the hotel serves the best beer I have ever tasted (Peter beer, exclusively made in Hokkaido). It was a great weekend!

One of the best five star hotels I have ever stayed at (and I only stay in five star hotels).

Great facilities in the room (plumbed in tea/coffee machines, printers, mood lighting, large safes etc), almost everything you might want has been thought of.

Not the best breakfast in the world, but other than that, great location, great rooms, great service.

Remember Rolls Royce can be used for trips less than a mile for the experience.

We had an amazing experience in this hotel. Our room was fantastic, with a view of the Imperial Palace gardens. The amenities in the room were above and beyond any luxury hotel. The room and bathroom were very spacious. The staff in the hotel were very attentive, the concierge extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

We recently stayed in a Deluxe Suite at the Peninsula Tokyo and had a wonderful experience. The service of the bellmen, front desk staff, restaurant staff and Concierge service was outstanding. It was peak cherry blossom season and the hotel appeared to be a full capacity. For this reason the Concierge staff seemed a little overwhelmed assisting guests, but were very accommodating once you were able to speak with them. The deluxe suite was absolutely fantastic. It had wonderful views of the Imperial Palace and Hibiya Park and was incredibly spacious and outfitted with amazing electronic light controls and gadgets like other Peninsula properties we have enjoyed elsewhere. I was surprised that they did not have dedicated iPhone/iPod docks but that would be my only (very mild) complaint.

We also stayed in a One bedroom suite at the Four Seasons Marunouchi at the start of our trip and the Peninsula Deluxe Suite wins hands down in terms of the room design, layout and views. Both properties are excellent, but if you want superior room design, views and layout, the Peninsula has a definite edge. Rooms that do not face the park, will not have the same "wow" factor as the Park view rooms or Deluxe Suites, but I am sure they are nicely appointed.

Room Tip: Try to book a room facing the Imperial Palace (all Deluxe Suites) on a higher floor (above the 15th...

It took me sometime to write this review because I didn't know where to start. So, I'll keep it simple as possible. I stayed at the hotel during the recent IMF World Bank meeting when the hotel and the city were "swarming" with foreign guests. The following represents service excellence at its best:

- Inbound flight delayed, meeting in 1 hour - the hotel GM met me upon arrival at the hotel entrance to ensure that I breezed through check-in formalities and somebody took care of the pressing of my suit.

- Room - excellent, spacious and well appointed. The toilet seat is even heated! At no time did I return to my room that it's not made up yet. This is amazing considering the hotel is full. The view from my room was to the royal palace grounds.

- Butler service - they're non-intrusive but always available when you need it.

- Concierge - extremely helpful.

- Check out and drive back to the airport - check out was very efficient (quick) and the drive almost uneventful.

- Location - central to the everywhere.

I could go on and on. But bottom line is that I don't think I'll stay anywhere when I visit Tokyo, either on business or leisure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the front of the hotel.

Location, room, amenity, service, and everything else is perfect except the below. They are all minor things but you would want the hotel to be perfect when paying $500+ a night, right?

- shower door doesn't close tightly, thus water leaks out on the floor. it's kind of annoying..
- fitness gym is very small and packed at 6am when it's open. Wished it was open 24hrs..
- hair blow dryer is powerless. it'll die soon!!
- steam room temperature at the spa is too low :(
- I love coffee in Japan with rich aroma, but the cafe on the 1st floor didn't have a good one. It was too acidic for me. The Lavazza in the room is MUCH better!!

I've stayed twice in the past with a total of 10 nights. I'd stay there again when going back to Tokyo! It's a smaller hotel and I like the "coziness".

My only complaint about pen tokyo is during peak, the staff can get pretty frazzled. Their level of consistency on food also varies. However, this is a very minor detail.
Tokyo pen is still one of the best places to stay if travelling with kids. We stayed in deluxe park view room and we were very comfortable. I had a walk-in closet, sala set, work desk, and even a small 2 seater table to enjoy my coffee. Over-all room lay-out is well conceptualized.
Concierge booked us on nice dining places depending on what you want to experience. From kobe to kurobota to sashimi.
Location is near ginza but can be quite a walk for kids, depending on their age.
