“Good ramen, but similar to what you can find almost anywhere in Tokyo”
Review of Tokyo Ramen Street

Happened to have to change trains here, and saw the row of ramen shops. All looked similar so just tried one that seemed less crowded, even at 2 pm. The ramen was okay, although the pork was really good.

This row of eateries is atypical of most stations - there is also a row of such stalls and bars between the Shimbachi subway and JR line, where office workers stop off for a quick beer and meal before heading home.

This place was SO crowded at lunch time, it's best to go off-hours. The ramen itself was good but not phenomenal. Still, it's great to go when it's raining since it's all enclosed and warm.

There's a lot of cool stores and restaurants in Tokyo station, so it's definitely a place to visit.

This was a great little strip in Tokyo station, and it's worth coming before the rush hour (lunch, dinner) to escape the wait. We tried two different stores here - the one selling crab ramen (with a unique shaped bowl), and Tokyo Ramen - which had the longest queue. Both were excellent and very affordable. Ramen Street is also right next to a shop (the only one we were able to find in Tokyo) selling limited edition Kit Kats from the different regions of Japan (wasabi flavour, strawberry cheesecake, rum & raisin etc), and a multitude of cute sweets that would make good gifts. Ramen Street is also near to Character Street, where you can pick up toys from Studio Ghibli and more. Also in Tokyo station on the same floor is a Calbee store, where you can pick up some fresh potato chips drizzled with cheese or chocolate. Great place to pass the time!
