We visited here on our first day in Tokyo and overall impression is is of a nice garden and remains of a castle. A quiet green, very clean, area in the heart of the city.

There are several sections. Pay special attention to juxtaposition of open green areas agains groves of carefully pruned old trees. Extremely peaceful in the middle of the Tokyo megalapolis.

The whole complex is nice to discover. Very nice gardens with the beauty of the trees surrounding the buildings. It is hot during summer. Wear hats or caps, use sunblock and drink water. You can rent bikes and explore the vicinity.

The gardens themselves are somewhat plain tell you the truth but the guardhouses and walls are very interesting to look at. Worth a stroll through for maybe an hour or two but certainly not the nicest gardens in Tokyo.

Well worth a visit when in Tokyo. Very calm and lots of plants and trees of different kinds. Every prefecture in Japan are represented by its prefecture tree. Lots of places where one can sit and relax and enjoy the park. During summer there are not much flowers. The entrance is free of charge.
