Booked the Edmont Metropolitan on the fly for quick trip to Tokyo. Hotel is located in iidabashi, which I've never stayed in before in spite of having visited Tokyo many times. On recommendation from other reviews, booked a "renovated" room, and it was worth the higher price - bigger than average room, with Nespresso machine, very comfortable bedding, and a bathroom that, to me, is better than even what I found staying at the Hilton NishiShinjuku executive floor, or the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi - the bath and shower is in a separate room from the toilet and washer basin. It has a floor that looks like bathroom tiles, but is actually made of a soft material that retains warmth. Makes a huge difference during colder months. Not sure about the difference in room size and decor on other floors but this was worth it. Checkout time is at noon, and didn't have to wait long. There are in-house cafes, bakery, and restaurants, but we opted to try the food options nearby the hotel instead. If you walk towards Chiyoda, you'll find Michelin starred ramen places also.
For transport, if you're traveling by train/metro, bear in mind only the Tozai line metro has access to an elevator at an exit that's nearest to the hotel (A5). Otherwise A2 exit is the closest and there's only stairs available. If you're traveling with heavy luggage, it may be worth it to pay the ¥150 to use A5 exit's elevator EVEN if you're not taking the Tozai line (iidabashi station is a hub that connects to more than 3 subway/metro/train lines).
