I was very pleased with the Dai-Ichi Annex. I almost didn't book it because it was so cheap, I assumed there must be something wrong with it (CAD$150 a night doesn't get you much in New York or London!). But I'm glad I did. It's an older 4-star business hotel; the style is 1980's, and it still has real keys for the rooms instead of cards (retro!). But the bed was comfortable, the rooms a decent size (for Tokyo) and the service impeccable. Everyone at the front desk had passable English and was very eager to help with any problem.

Above all, this is a perfect location for a vacation. Tokyo can be overwhelming, so it's nice that the Dai-Ichi Annex is in an office building area that's very tranquil at night. But it's just two blocks from the bustling nightlife of Shimbashi, and a short, easy walk from the bright lights of Ginza, so you really get the best of both worlds.

While most hotels in Tokyo are tiny, the Dai-Ichi Hotel Annex offers rooms that let you move around even with a baby or small children. It is an extension of the bigger Dai-Ichi Hotel, but the service is no less excellent that its more popular sister property. People at the reception speak English well and are pretty helpful. There is also a back-entrance which is connected to the subway, so walking around even in winter is not a problem. The area is pretty accessible, even at night, with the Ginza shopping district only about 10 minutes walk away and Shimbashi station about 5 minutes away (which connect to the rest of Tokyo via the Yamanote line). There are several convenience stores, yakitori joints, tonkatsu and sushi places nearby. Also in the area is a 5-storey toy park so it really is a great place to stay with young kids. The hotel and the room is very clean with a modern bath. The beds are comfortable. Everything you need for a short stay is right there.

The hotel is a bit old. The twin guest room is a bit small and difficult to put suitcases and stuff, though comfortable enough for a short stay. Staff at the front desk have been friendly and helpful too. In just a few minutes walk from the hotel you will find the train station and the shopping street with shops and restaurants. We did the booking at the high season and we were lucky to get rooms here at good value.

I've been to Tokyo for business trip a couple of times and with the type of budget the company is paying. There's a limit to the choice of hotel I can stay. Luck for me, this time round Yen price drop enough for me to book Dai-ichi hotel Annex. It's a older hotel but with nice big room. Service personel is great as well and very friendly. Any request is service with a smile. Of course in Japan, service is always delivered with a smile.
As mention above the room is big and there's a full size wardrobe, unlike other smiliar price hotel where the's only a open hanger.
The toilet amenities is provided by Shiseido and the quality of the product shows.
Location great as it's 5 mins to office, 5 mins to Ginza, 5 mins to train station. There's a couple of train station and line nearby, therefore convenient where ever you want to go.
I'm staying at 10 floor and my room face the train track. As I'm a early raiser so the train noise doesn't affect me much. Light sleeper may want to request for room facing away from the train station or higher floor. Breakfast is excluded but as the hotel is surrounded by eateries and convenient store, this is not a problem.

Room Tip: Face away from train track if you're a light sleeper, smoking floor is really smoky. If you can't stand the smell, request for non-smoking floor.
