Absolutely loved my one night stay here. I am currently travelling home with a broken leg to have surgery after a skiing accident and stayed here. The room was clean, big and very well presented. Was very convenient for hobbling around on crutches too! So impressed.
The staff were very helpful and helped me in and out of wheelchairs, taxis etc and even gave me some Japanese tea and chocolate as a gift. Very much appreciate all the effort and sympathy from all the staff, Thank you so much!

The rooms are excellent, but old in style and little changed in the the 20 years I have stayed there and of a decent size for Tokyo. The wifi is very good and the bar is full of character but also full of smoke haze so unpleasant if you are a non-smoker - we could only stand one drink which was a shame. The food is very good although also very expensive given the quality of places in surrounding streets. For business this is a perfect location.

I used to travel to Tokyo frequently - but about ten years ago. The Imperial was a nice hotel in a premium location near the Ginza and Imperial Palace Gardens. The design was Frank Lloyd Wright which was interesting but not very Japanese to be honest. I get the history, but it felt more like the Imperialist Hotel than the Imperial Hotel. The hallways were dark and the rooms quite dated.

No more! This hotel has received a major renovation. Probably due to competition from the nearby Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental they have taken up the decor and service by leaps and bounds and I loved it.

The core architecture is unchanged but greatly cleaned up. Lighting is much better -- common areas and hallways are bright, fresh and modern. The rooms have all been updated. The bathrooms now feature a clean traditional Japanese soaking tub with a combined shower room and central drain all separated from the rest of the bathroom. The beds are super comfortable and some rooms have great views (some facing the trains can be quite noisy).

All of the restaurants have changed and now the best (according to TripAdvisor) teppanyaki restaurant in Tokyo sits near the rooftop of this hotel. I ate there and it was fantastic. The bars are fantastic. The shopping in the lower level mall is terrific. Service was top notch and highly attentive. The men's spa and workout room -- new and slick. The 20th floor atrium swimming pool overlooking the Imperial Gardens is an oasis.

What's not to like about this hotel? Nothing. It's even a terrific value.

So while I love a Four Seasons or Mandarin Oriental experience (both are within two or three blocks of this hotel), take a step back in history and enjoy classic Japanese service in modern Western accommodations in an excellent neighborhood for shopping or business.

Loved the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms in the old wing (not tower) are fantastic and modern. Be sure to ask for a room that does not...

It is a luxury hotel, with 18 bars and restaurants, plus your minibar in the room...You have the principle building (where you have suits and imperial suits) and the tower building for others but still with large rooms with a view either for the imperial park or the town. The room is large, with excellent equipments, including a retro radio station, where you can choose classical or modern music. Wifi is strong enough, in the bathroom with the famous "toto" toilet-set, it will be funny and "warm" even there....The breakfast is excellent, with a choice of Japaneese, American style and also the buffet, where you have a great choice of Japaneese and Western tastes....Frankly, I prefered the Japaneese, it was really different as from the western....The service is excellent, the staff is extremly friendly and helpful. If you need information on whatever (train schedules, advises on themes, destinations) they are ready to help you. The English knowledge of the staff is correct. Swimming pool, sauna, fitness room are available in the 20th floor, but you have to pay for it, 1050 yen for the swimming pool. Also, breakfast is not cheap, but the hotel is not a cheap one neither. Direct limousin service from/to airport is very convenient, price is 3000 (1200 by train via Tokyo station). Room service is without any negative remarks. Hotel Imperial is the cleanest hotel I've ever been. The hotel is very well situated, whatever is your purpose, good restaurants or bars in the neighborhood, or for shopping you have Ginza district (Ginza metro station) by foot, 10 minutes. Next to the hotel you have a Segafredo italian coffee or Starbucks....but simply, ask the double expresso in the hotel, it is decent...The main hotel bar is open till 1 am, good choice of whiskeys, including the local Suntory and Yamasaki. So just take a Highball, you are in Tokyo....

Just a fantastic hotel In the heart of Tokyo. Rooms are exceptional and well appointed. Service is second to none compared to virtually any hotel around the world. I always love a hotel with history and no other hotel in Tokyo has more history than this one. Highly recommend.

The staff are courteous and welcoming. English is widely spoken.

The rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable.
