“Four Seasons Tokyo incredible experience!!!!”
Reviewed April 3, 2014

There is NO better place to stay than in the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo, the service and luxury and location is unbeatable!!!! I was escorted to the Bullet train by a very helpful young man named Christopher who insisted on helping me with my luggage. He came all the way into the station, helped me on the train and waited till it departed. This was a small example of the type of service to expect.

We were celebrating our anniversary. The hotel came and took our picture and gave us a bottle of champagne with a card signed by all the staff!!!!! A wonderful start to an amazing hotel.
The rooms/bath are huge and gorgeous . The concierge and staff are very special beyond any
expectation. They took us to the Bullet train with all our luggage and assisted in purchasing our tickets to Kyoto. When we return to Tokyo we will be back to this wonderful centrally located hotel.

First experience and it was so pleasantly memorable, we still talk about it to our friends with a big smile on our faces. From reserving the rooms all the way to the end of our trip, the attention to detail and to our children was impressive.

Room Tip: We were on the fourth floor where we had 2 rooms. One side was facing the main street and the other...

Felt a little like staying at an airport hotel (this above/near the train station) in the sense that it didn't really feel like its own, separate, cozy hotel. Felt like they borrowed space in the tower.

Very clean, modern, spacious, comfortable. Access to trains, shops, and Ginza (short walk). Access to the royal palace.

Very nice hotel, but not like other Four Seasons I have been to. Probably not worth the price we paid.

The staff in this place are the resort’s greatest asset, which is just as well, as there is nothing much special about this hotel. I was impressed by how the reception staff did their best to help us with whatever triviality my wife bothered them with. Room, location, food – not so impressive.

Tokyo seems to have a void of truly luxury hotels which is a bit strange. There are only really three choices to consider: Shangri-La, Mandarin Oriental, and the Four Seasons. Unfortunately the Four Seasons is last on my list as it doesn't meet the usual Four Seasons standards. Its quite small with only 58 rooms which is quite nice as it has a "boutiquey" feel to it but the design is quite dated and the hotel is showing plenty of wear and tear as it hasn't been renovated since it opened in over 10 years. The staff is wonderful which is nice and the location is prime of power shopping. Additionally, there is no breakfast buffet which is a shame as the 4S is famous for their amazing breakfasts.

The real winners in Tokyo are the Shangri-La and the Mandarin Oriental. The Mandarin is quite new which is nice and the design is simply fabulous. Same goes for the Shangri-La. All three hotels are near the Ginza shopping district which is by far the best location in Tokyo. Unfortunately the Mandarin is a bit far from Ginza so its not really ideal to walk when going shopping but the Shangri-La and 4S are only about 15 mins away from some of the best shopping in the world.

I hate to say this but I think you need to skip the 4S when in Tokyo. By the way, Aman Tokyo is opening in a few months and that should be the new champ of Tokyo hotels for sure!!! ;-)

In the past month we stayed at the hotel on 2 occasions and highly recommend it. Firstly, the hotel is in a great location - less than 5 minutes walk from Tokyo station, so if you are coming from the airport or elsewhere, you are very close. And don't worry about finding your way to the hotel, because guest services will be waiting on the platform to carry your bags and show you the way. This experience continued throughout our stay - EVERYONE was on the ball and more than willing to help. So we were personally walked to an ATM; taken to the station; had seats found in hard to book restaurants; had customised room service; were remembered and felt taken care of. Our room was fabulous - very large with a living area, separate dressing room and huge bathroom. We had a great view of bullet trains coming into the station. The hotel is quite small, very intimate, brilliantly located for everything in Tokyo, quiet and a lovely place for a 'grown up' break.
