“Gorgeous people make for a lovely stay at 4 Seasons”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2014

In the past month we stayed at the hotel on 2 occasions and highly recommend it. Firstly, the hotel is in a great location - less than 5 minutes walk from Tokyo station, so if you are coming from the airport or elsewhere, you are very close. And don't worry about finding your way to the hotel, because guest services will be waiting on the platform to carry your bags and show you the way. This experience continued throughout our stay - EVERYONE was on the ball and more than willing to help. So we were personally walked to an ATM; taken to the station; had seats found in hard to book restaurants; had customised room service; were remembered and felt taken care of. Our room was fabulous - very large with a living area, separate dressing room and huge bathroom. We had a great view of bullet trains coming into the station. The hotel is quite small, very intimate, brilliantly located for everything in Tokyo, quiet and a lovely place for a 'grown up' break.

When you stay in a 5 star hotel in Tokyo - and I have stayed in the Peninsula, the MO, both the Hyatts, the Imperial (ok - more 4 star) and the Ritz Carlton, you can be certain that the service and standards will be the best of the best. The 4S at M is no different - great, personel service (including letting us change in the spa when we arrived early). So, why would you choose this hotel over the others? Firstly, for train buffs, there are great views over the tracks leading into Tokyo station. Secondly, for those using the train (either to/from Nairta aiport or the Tokyo metro) this is an incredibly convenient location. Thirdly, it is the closest 5 star hotel to Ginza for those who want to shop. Fourthly, it is one of the easier hotels in Tokyo to arrange connecting rooms for those traveling with family.

Rooms are large with lovely bathrooms. Used room service twice - both times it was excellent (especially the hot chocolate). Hotel is extremely small, which probably helps with the personal service.

Only issue was explaining to taxi drivers exactly where it is - take one of the location cards from the front desk!

No swimming pool, which wasn't an issue for us but maybe for some.

Room Tip: Train view rooms are worth the extra.

Having stayed at Four Seasons Hotels worldwide with wonderful experiences, Tokyo hotel left us wanting. Facility was great as well as overall service. Location great also. The exception and disappointment was with the restaurant food, service and also room service. Cold coffee, tasteless fruit, cold omelette etc etc. loved Tokyo but would hesitate to return to hotel. Left note for general manager. Never did that before

My wife and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary here. They upgraded us to a suite and gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne but I was really impressed by the personal card with the champagne that congratulated us and was signed by five or six members of the staff! It showed a real personal touch that one would expect of a five star hotel. The food at the restaurant Ekki Bar and Grill was also delicious and not as expensive as I expected so overall, I would rate the hotel 4.75 stars.

Three minor reasons why it didn't get the perfect score:

1. Not the staff's fault but the hotel is located on the first seven floors of the building. Our room was on the 3rd floor and you can hear the shinkansen below. Also, for the price, one would have expected a better view.
2. The wifi in the room is really, really slow.
3. The suite was very spacious and the furniture was really nice. The tvs are the best (3D tvs with very large screens). However, in the bathroom, there was only one sink and it felt a little cramped with all the toothbrushes, hair dryer, etc... next to the sink. Not that convenient for couples. I would have expected double sinks (one of those minor things that you only notice when you're there).

Other than that, a really great hotel. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion.

This hotel has the best service available for guests travelling with luggage and arriving/departing by train. Only place I know of in Tokyo where they come collect you and your luggage from Shinkansen or narita express and take you to your hotel.... Actually right to your room.
Apart from that everything else is also brilliant. Tiny little attentions to detail like personalised kids books hand made in hotel, welcome snacks with kids names written in icing, heaps of advice and directions from concierge and reception that make you feel like you have your own personal guide.
Location is awesome for transport, access to yamanote line (quicker and less stressful to walk to Yarakucho station to south of hotel than to go back into Tokyo station), good for Ginza and Marunouchi shopping.
Can't recommend enough and pretty reasonable compared to other top end Tokyo hotels (Hyatt etc)

A very well managed hotel offering a superior experience. Everything was in order before our arrival including emailing me to ask me to let them know if we would be arriving by bus or train so their colleague could meet us and escort us to the hotel... the also escorted us to the train upon our departure. The room was good size, clean and very comfortable, as was the bathroom. This was one of the better Four Seasons experiences.

From the moment we arrived by train and was met by hotel staff helping us lug our skis thru the crowded tunnels of Tokyo station, I was impressed with the service and staff. The rooms were top notch and spacious. Over the years we continue to return here due to the great experience and central location. You would be hard pressed to do better.
