“Very nice rooms but a little out of the way”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 26, 2013 via mobile

We liked the room - it was big enough to have a king sized bed and 2 roll away singles. View was good. Beds were comfortable. The bathroom was huge although the toilet area was very cramped. The hotel itself is new and nice.

However reason I don't rate it as a 5 is because:
1) for the price range and what it makes itself out to be, it's lacking in some 'extras', eg nespresso coffee, turn down service, newspapers. Maybe that's reserved for the club floors (which we weren't in) but in many similar situated hotels, even non club floor rooms would enjoy these perks;
2) staff will answer your questions but they won't give you alternative suggestions, which to me is what sets apart a good hotel from an exceptional one;
3) while the subway is under the hotel, it really is a fairly long trek to the trains.

The Capitol is a great hotel ...great location ...great service and great rooms. Location ...it is not in a hustle bustle location but in a quiet area; however it is literally on top of a Tokyo Metro station (Tameike-Sanno on Ginza & other lines), has a 7-11 shop in the basement and there is a free shuttle bus that runs to Roppongi and Shibuya. Rooms have a fabulous view of the city through a spotlessly clean window. The Pool/gym and Spa centre is worth a visit. All in all I enjoyed my stay at the Capitol and will return there next time I am in Tokyo.

I took my wife to Tokyo for a long weekend and we stayed here for two days. The property is fantastic, the rooms wonderful, and the service excellent. The modern design of the hotel is attractive and comfortable. The rooms are all high enough that the views are spectacular. The attention to detail of the hotel and the staff is grand. The neighborhood is good for touristic jaunts; helped by a subway stop below the hotel. We never ate in the hotel but the concierge did suggest a restaurant for shabu shabu one night that was great.

Clean, comfortable, modern, fantastic baths/showers . . . it made for a great stay!

Good room, good service, as most high class hotel in Tokyo.
The location is good, very easy to go to the metro.
If you don't want to have expensive food, there are convenient store nearby.
Now we stay here when we go to Tokyo, rather than The Peninsula Tokyo (budget concern) or Mandarin Oriental Hotel.

I must agree with all positive reviews on this hotel - modern, stylish, spacious rooms with beautiful views, helpful and experienced staff. Though I must say that some do have problems when speaking English which caused some misunderstanding.
Breakfast and dinner in European restaurant are very nice. In addition a very nice street with restaurants and bars is just 5 min walk and those places are also worth a visit for a relaxed evening.
One thing that falls out of this idyllic picture is extra charges - not that they can change the general impression but really, it does look 'funny' when they charge 5$ for printing out your boarding pass. You understand, I am not talking about 5$

Room Tip: We had two rooms on the 26th floor - one overlooking the palace, another - the shrine\temple, but in...

I stayed for business four nights at the Capitol Hotel Tokyu in early December and was very pleasantly surprised:

1. Check In
Very easy, directly on the 27th floor (executive lobby) seated in a lounger with a glass of champagne served - this way the check in after a 12 hours flight is really fun

2. Room
Very spacious and comfortable room on the executive floor with an intelligent room seperation between entree, main room and bathroom. All in a modern but yet still kind of traditional Japanese architecture and ambience! And the room from the bed onto the city (and sometimes Mount Fuji) were great!

3. Service level, food
- Breakfast at the main restaurant in the lobby was great (combination of orders and buffet), so was the "lean" version in the executive lobby
- Room service and ammenities (all from hair brushes to shaving kit already there) were great and efficient

4. Summary
Great hotel, great room and great service: Would very much prefer this to other places I have been before (Ana Intercontinental etc.)

What catches your breath is the serenity of The Capitol Hotel Tokyu in the heart of Tokyo. The price is steep but worth every penny. You would be able to escape into a quiet retreat, away from the rumblings of a busy city. When you want some excitement, Ginza is nearby.The impeccable Japanese garden bang in the middle of the hotel is a visual treat. The pub with the view of the city is superb and your beer tastes that much better. The many restaurants in the hotel cater to every one of your requirements. The best feature of the hotel is its relatively larger room size, so unlike the matchbox type rooms of other hotels.
It is a pity that such a nice place has to suffer blackouts for energy savings.
