“Very comfortable, relaxing hotel with good transport links”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

LOCATION: Across the road from the National Diet / parliament building (Kokkai-gijido), with the Kokkai-gijido-mae subway station accessible from the basement exit of the hotel (where there is also a convenience store). A quiet, peaceful, central location, with good transport links to travel in any direction quickly.

FACILITIES: Deluxe king room. Lovely, very spacious rooms, managing to infuse a perfect level of traditional Japanese influence (sliding rice paper screens separating sections of the room) into a clean, modern, well appointed space. The design of the bathroom and dressing area was commendable - the extra space here compared to many hotel rooms in Japan really starts to make a difference when you are staying for more than a couple of days. The view from the panoramic window showcased the Diet building and the SkyTree. Housekeeping was very good - the room would always be discreetly made up, regardless of when you left / used the bed. The food from room service was excellent. I concur with all other reviews which state that you wake up in these rooms completely refreshed and invigorated.

Thoroughly recommend the Capitol for location, excellent rooms, attentive service and great value for money.

The best features concerning this hotel must be the view and the location. We had the Club King deluxe room, stayed for a week in February. The room was facing the temple and had a stunning view of the skyscrapers. Very, very cosmopolitan. You enter this room and you will smile, for sure :-) Comfortable in every way. AC heating/cooling is stealth and efficient. Small fridge, water cooker, coffee and different sorts of green tea. The basic, but necessary international TV - BBC and CNN, the rest is chinese and japanese. The Club room includes breakfast which was fine, but nothing special. The staff is helpfull and courtious. The location is great because of two things. First, the area just a few minutes from the hotel is very charming. Restaurants, bars, and karaoke :-). The area feels safe, vibrant and fun. Second, the fact that you have a subway in the basement of the hotel has to score some serious points. Especially for first time visitors - this is really, really time saving and practical. All in all, a very pleasant experience without any special remarks. Very good value for money!

Room Tip: Go for the Club temple side! You can see Tokyo Skyline and Mt. Fuji on a sunny morning :-)

The rating for this place is dead on - this is one of the nicest hotels in Tokyo, which makes it one of the nicest hotels in the world. I landed a pretty screaming deal on Hotels.com (280/night) but honestly, it's worth double that. Fantastic rooms, top-tier service, great bar, great restaurants...it has anything you want and everything you need. I woke up every morning completely refreshed. The bathroom/shower is the best I've ever used - it's huge, full tub, waterfall-like showerhead plus nozzle spray, you will never be so clean again. The staff are incredibly polite, friendly, and helpful - and most have a good command of at least 3 or more languages, including English.

The reason it doesn't rate as high as the Park Hyatt (which is also usually more expensive) is that while The Capitol Hotel is in a nice, central location (by the Diet, downtown) it's not in one of the "hip" districts like Shibuyu. However, it sits right on top of a subway station (the cleanest you'll ever see) - you literally take the elevator to the basement and bam, you are right there. Shibuyu, for example, is about a 10 minute ride away, no transfers. The Tokyo subway is clean, fast, and cheap, though a little confusing for first-timers - the hotel concierge will help you out. There's also a 7-eleven down there (the cleanest 7-eleven you will ever see). All this right under the hotel - talk about convenient.

I can't say enough good things about this place.

Room Tip: As with all good Tokyo hotels, the higher you are the better the view. I was on the 28th floor and i...

Currently staying at the Capitol hotel Tokyo for the second time ( club deluxe king room ) in just over a week. A five star hotel centrally located in chiyoda. We thought the location was fantastic with subway access directly under the hotel. Only a short subway ride to just about anywhere. Our room has been faultless on both occasions, staff friendly and extremely helpful, even remembering us and welcoming us back. Have not dined in the hotel restaurants, other than for breakfast, as there are so many restaurants close by. Free wifi included. and access to club lounge for complimentry drinks and snacks each afternoon. Pricewise, it's up there but worth it for us. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Favorite hotel in Japan; perhaps Asia. Staff generally knows every visitor by name, accommodates any request. Hundreds of restaurants nearby; simple transport to airport. With Tokyo subway & plenty of taxis, can get anywhere easily. Food is excellent. Spacious rooms, cool showers, excellent views. Expensive but in line with other hotels. Have stayed at others but always return to Capitol.

I wanted a comfortable room with an inspiring view to sleep off my jet lag and get motivated for my next day flight. Am happy to report this hotel is consistent with its reviews.

The hotel is very close to the subway stop, less then a 2 min walk if you can figure out what direction to go. If you are feeling sporty, you access pretty much any of the main districts (shibuya, shinjuku, roppongi etc), by hopping on the subway. They do have a shuttle bus to Haneda, however, it only runs 3 times a day and it did not fit with my flight schedule (so I opted for a cab ride - 35 min, $60). Narita is much further and requires 1.5 hours on the subway/trains. They also have a jogging path map on their website that takes you by the major nearby sites (shrines/museums etc) but I was too tired to test it out.

I was harried and exhausted from LA flight and navigating the trains/subway during Tokyo rush hour (bad experience - got smooshed by throngs of people and gropey Japanese guy, was not happy). To my delight during check-in, the lovely concierge upgraded me to a larger room on the 22nd floor. The staff was as polite and as accommodating as I've come to expect with Japanese hospitality. My 22nd floor room was modern, beautiful, large and perfectly comfortable with amenities, fast wifi, and a large bathtub/shower area. I slept like a baby that night and woke up to the inspiring view of Tokyo I was yearning for sans the jet lag.

The hotel has several restaurants to choose from (Japanese, Chinese) and I opted for the Japanese sushi bar. The sushi was high grade and the sake selection very good. My only complaint is that dinner is very expensive (mid-range sushi selection 12 pieces and 2 sakes for one person ~ $150) but I understand this hotel caters to business travelers....and it is Tokyo. But having spent a fair amount of time in Japan now, I know one doesn't have to spend $150 per person to find a great meal.

I consider Japan one of my favorite places to visit and I'm happy I added this hotel to my list.

We stayed at the Capitol Hotel from 2/3-2/5. I hemmed and hawed about this hotel for months. I couldn't decide if it was the right location but all the reviews were so good, I couldn't resist. I was also concerned about getting to the hotel as our plane landed late in the evening and I wasn't sure the airport transportation would still be running. I contacted the concierge a number of times and rarely got a response, but I decided to wing it and go for it. ALL IN ALL it worked out fine. The bus was running and I really did like the hotel. It really is more business oriented than tourist oriented and the location might not be for those wanting to spend time in GINZA shopping. It worked well for us. The room was great, entire wall of windows, awesome view of the city, I loved the layout and I really loved the shower -IN fact I want to replicate this someday in our ski house in CO. I am a competitive swimmer and was very happy with the pool, the temp was good and the water clear and very clean. One has to be sensitive to the issue with tattoos in Japan as this is an issue with their Mafia and they are very sensitive to this. The staff was very kind and helpful, we had lunch their and it was very good. In fact we got up one morning at 4:30 am to go to the Tsjiki Fish Market and one of the staff members went way out of the way to hail us a cab! I would highly recommend this hotel unless you want to be more in the thick of things, otherwise it is very very nice.
