My husband our 4 year old daughter and I are on a seven week trip and this was our first hotel. I can't imagine a nicer room to work through our jet lag. We stayed from the 11th to the 15th of January before moving on to a ryokan in Asakusa to experience the Japanese culture first hand.
We managed to get an excellent offer on this hotel ( we paid around $120 per night) making it fantastic value for money in a city where accomadation is not cheap.
We had a double room which was very nice, not too small, comfortable and very quiet. I was extremely impressed with the quality of the fixtures and fittings throughout the hotel. The finish and details were of an incredably high standard making it feel very luxurious.
The reception staff tried to be helpful but their spoken English was minimal and we often received conflicting advice depending on which member of staff we spoke to.
There was a relaxation room with a lovely roof-top garden and washing machines, where for 500 yen you could wash and dry a machine of washing. There were free massage chairs in the room and washing my clothes has never been so relaxing.
The area itself is not particulary interesting but is a short walk from both a train and subway station and so made a good base from which to explore.

We are very appreciated you to stay 4nights with us, and we are so happy to hear that “Hotel Niwa Tokyo” is lovely hotel for your family. As you comment, we are located near both train and subway stations, so it’s very easy to access Shinjyuku, Akihabara, Shibuya, and Tokyo. When you visit Japan next time, please stay with us again.

My boyfriend and I stayed 5 nights at the wonderful Hotel Niwa. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. Everyone was very attentive and helped us plan our days in Tokyo. The location is great! Just about a 5 minute walk to both and subway station and the JR trains (Japan Rail line) (ps- even though the Tokyo train map seems impossible to navigate, it is very easy to figure out). Also the hotel is a 7 min walk to Tokyo Dome City, which has many restaurants and shops. Because my boyfriend and I are picky eaters and did not love the food in Tokyo, we were sooo happy to discover American restaurants in Tokyo Dome City. Warning- do not go to the Dennys expecting american breakfast foods. The Japanese are not breakfast food people so your best bet for an "American" breakfast is the hotel buffet. Even though it's a little pricey, it's better than roaming around town trying to find a bagel.
The area is very safe! Located near various universities.
The hotel rooms are a little small, but you get used to it after one night. The hotel also offers free toothbrush, hairbrush, and other toiletries for guests. There are 2 computers in the lobby for guests to use. Also, the hotel has a "relaxation lounge" on the 3rd floor complete with a reading area, 2 massage chairs, and a beer vending machine.
The staff is wonderful. We went during New Years Eve and the hotel hosted a party for all the guests with a band and free food and drinks. We had an amazing time in Tokyo and highly recommend Hotel Niwa! Can't wait to go back!!!! =)

Hotel Niwa Tokyo lives up to all the glowing reviews on TA.

Fantastic hotel, great location, excellent service, very comfortable, good value for money.

I booked through hotelclub.com and got a great deal. My stay consisted of three nights, room 806, standard double.

The location is exceptional, easy to find, as suggested on the hotel website I caught the Airport Limousine from Narita to Tokyo Dome Hotel then walked to Hotel Niwa. Excellent connections from the local JR station, Suidobashi. Fantastic restaurants in close proximity and several convenience stores nearby.

Clean, modern, comfortable accommodation with unforgettable Japanese service.

I will be recommending this hotel to family and friends.I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and I hope to return soon!

We spend the New Year in Japan and while in Tokyo we stayed at Hotel Niwa. It's a great hotel, very friendly staff, modern facilities, spotless room and bathroom with lots of amenities (althought a bit small, the room) and located near the Tokyo Dome, the subway and several restaurants (most of them with pretty nice prices, not expensive at all).
We recomend it to everyone. It's really good value for money and since we booked it with a month in advance we got a good discount rate on hotels.com.

I did my homework and read that Hotel Niwa is a gem of a hotel in Tokyo, so I decided to book a few nights stay for our holiday in Tokyo. I shopped around for the cheapest rates and found a terrific (really) deal on Hotel Club (something like US$100 per night!!) for three nights (it was rather much more expensive for the other nights we were in Tokyo so we got only three nights at Niwa).

Hotel Niwa was easy to locate. Get off at Shinbashi station, turn right upon exiting, cross the road, and then through a quiet street, we walked by Tokyu hotel before we got to Niwa. It was as described and photographed - gorgeous trees and plants on the outside, with a very pretty pond. Understated Japanese modern architecture in the lobby. It looked like a five star hotel, just smaller, and more intimate. I love it.

The concierge were always friendly, smiling, and helpful. We had our bags kept there first before check in later in afternoon, no problem with that. Later, we went to our room and it was great and perfect in almost every way. It was firstly larger than those chain hotels in Tokyo - there was space to walk about and lay out our luggage. It was tastefully decorated. There were English instructions and all, and even for the TV! There were BBC and CNN channels and even Discovery channel. We could even surf the internet using the TV! It was not difficult to use the TV unlike at other hotels where instructions were only in Japanese or poor English.

There was also free internet using the LAN cable provided. Hook it up to your laptop and all OK.

The bathroom was VERY well stocked, very clean, great fittings, and in no way small. (Decent bathtub etc) We enjoyed having the space to walk around. There were tons of fluffy, good quality towels available in the bathroom, and clean PJs to wear (though not a yukata).

Two washing machines/dryers are available on 3rd floor for laundry use, with two massage chairs and vending machines. Two convenience stores just to the right of the hotel.

Room tidying/cleaning service was very, very good. We return every evening (late) to find our room tidied, the bed made, etc. The cleanliness of the room and hotel was superb.

My partner was incredulous that I could get three nights stay at the rate I got, for such a hotel. Hotel Niwa is definitely worth of being given five stars - it was beautiful, really beautiful, very clean, friendly, and a true gem of a hotel in Tokyo. We will definitely stay in Niwa again when we return to Tokyo.

Thank you very very much to stay with us and we are so happy to hear that you had a great stay. However, may I correct the name of nearby station from us? It’s not SHINBASHI -> SUIDOBASHI is right. We are sorry, but there are many travelers check the “Trip Advisor” these days, and we don’t want them to misunderstand. We are looking forward to serving you again soon.
