“Elegant, charming yet affordable”
Reviewed November 3, 2010

It's never cheap to stay in Tokyo, I tried this hotel because of tripadvisor and the Tokyo Michelin Guide, it's very affordable and good value. The room size is decent for Japanese standard. Love the free and speedy Wi-fi. The bed is extremely comfy and towel is still fluffy. The hotel is more than 1 year old, still feel very fresh and clean. Tried their Japanese restaurant "Yukuri", they serve Kaiseki set dinner(2 choices)at night, also affordable and delicious compare to the restaurants in Ginza(which will cost 60%more)

Thank you very much to stay with us, and ate “Kaiseki” (traditional Japanese food) dinner at Yukuri. We are very please to say that Hotel Niwa Tokyo was appraised for the category of “Comfortable Hotel” by “Michelin Guide Tokyo 2010”. We would like to express our thanks for your continued business and support. We are looking forward to serving you again soon.

This was the first hotel we stayed at on a two-week trip to Japan and it turned out to be the best. We were prepared for the smallness of Tokyo hotel rooms, but our "superior twin" room at the Niwa didn't feel as small as it looked. The room was well laid out and decorated. Everything you need is there (including a fridge)--all in a little, pretty package. The beds were super comfy, and the sliding paper screens for the windows aided our sleep. By Japanese hotel standards, the bathroom was large. The laundry machines, fitness room and free massage chairs on the third floor were a bonus. The Niwa had the feel of a brand new, boutique hotel. The staff were exceedingly helpful, making restaurant reservations and printing out directions. The Niwa is in more of a real neighborhood rather than a big-name touristy district. (Our room looked down on two rooftop sports courts where students played.) Still, it is centrally located, with two subway/train stations within 5-10 minutes walk. The Niwa was good value for money (We booked through the hotel's web site and paid $192, including customary service fee and tax.) A real find!

We are so happy to hear that we are the best hotel in Japan for you now. As you said, this is the brand new Japanes style boutique hotel. Actually, there are not so many boutique hotels and Japanese style hotels in Japan (many of them are western style). So I hope many foreigners love our hotel like you. We are looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Stayed here because of the reviews on trip advisor. It was much cheaper than anything else. It was easy to find, very near the metro and JR line stations. The hotel is lovely, both inside and outside. The rooms are small, but have everything you need, including good internet. Didn't spend too long in the hotel and didn't get to eat there, but the restaurants always looked busy. The relaxation room was also a nice touch after a long day exploring Tokyo. The surrounding area is lovely too, lots of amazing bookshops and noodle bars.
I got the Limo bus from the Tokyo Dome hotel back to the airport. If your flight falls at the right time, and you can get this bus it is a good way to get to the airport.
In summary, great price, great position, with small but perfectly formed rooms!

I read the reviews from tripadvisor so i chose this small hotel. I've issues with cleanliness and I'm very satisfied with their maintenance and house keeping. The location is convenient, the Wi-Fi is speedy and FREE. The only thing that I can criticize is no Mini-bar but there're 2 convenient stores just right next to the hotel so it's not a big problem. Btw, the General Manager, Mr Hitomi who is very friendly, speak good English and I'm surprise he also help out at the breakfast, it's like a big family in Niwa!

Thank you very much to chose our hotel to stay in Tokyo. This is Japanese style new boutique hotel, however we have 238 rooms so actually it’s not so small. Not only me, but also all our stuff are very friendly, therefore even some of them can’t speak fluent English, you will feel that you came back home. We try to be a big family, so we are so happy to hear what you written for us. We are looking forward to serving you again.

Stayed 14 nights in mid-September to see multiple concerts at Tokyo Dome. Perfect location if you are attending Dome events. Convenient walking distance to and from the Dome. There is the ease of taking the limousine bus from Narita to Tokyo Dome Hotel (I normally stay at hotels on the bus routes), then catching a cab to Hotel Niwa (although even with a map, the driver could not find the hotel and I had to direct him there…).

Hotel Niwa is beautiful and modern. Stayed in the standard room, but it was above standard. Although considered a boutique hotel, the room was considerably spacious. The design is delicate and exquisite – very peaceful and serene. The bed's illuminated headboard was very dramatic, and the sliding shoji doors concealing the windows gave the room an instant Japanese feel. What a nice touch! The room was spotless, and you could tell the cleaning staff took great pride in their work. The front desk staff was very polite and professional. Loved the free internet access - did not have any trouble with my connection.

Easy access to the JR Line at Suidobashi station, with easy connection to other lines. Many restaurants and convenience stores nearby. This is my new favorite hotel in Tokyo. I have recommended it to my friends. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Tokyo for the first time and we were very pleasantly surprised by how nice it is. The location is great, close to JR station and within easy walking distance of lots of attractions and restaurants. It's about 5/10 mins walk from Tokyo Dome. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well laid out, with every conceivable toiletry provided in the bathroom (including white pyjamas - although if you are a 6ft 2 broad shouldered male like my boyfriend, you will look ridiculous in them!) and of course a high tech Japanese toilet. There is a mini bar and safe and coffee/tea making facility in the room. There are 2 computers that you can use for free in the lobby, and also a small communal room and terrace with fantastic massage chairs which are free. There is also a laundry for guests to use. The staff were exceedingly polite and spoke enough English for everything we needed to ask for. There are plenty of cheap restaurants near by (including conveyor belt sushi if, like us, your Japanese isn't up to much) - the best we found was about 10 mins walk away (turn left on the main road, in the opposite direction to the JR station and it's on your right hand side). There are also 7-11 convenience stores, McDonalds, Subway etc nearby.

We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends. If you book tours they seem to all leave from the main bus station, and you will be picked up at the Tokyo Dome Hotel which is 5 mins walk away. I'd really recommend a city tour if you haven't been to Tokyo before, we managed to see and do absolutely loads with only 3 days in the city.

Thank you very much to stay 3 nights with us, and we are so happy to hear that we are the first hotel for you in Tokyo. Also we are so glad to hear that you have a nice stay with us. However, can we correct one of your comments, we have refrigerator in the room, but we don’t have min bar, and we prepare the a few tea backs in the room but not coffee. I’m sorry, but we believe many customers will see your comments in the world, so we don’t want them to misunderstanding. We are looking forward to serving you again, and your friends.
