First time in Japan and overwhelmed as to what type of lodging and where in the city to choose. Wasn't adventurous enough to stay in a ryokan but didn't want over priced big western type hotel. I am so pleased with my choice of Hotel Niwa. Location wise, it's quiet part of city but just steps from Suidobashi JR and metro station so easy access anywhere in city. Easy JR train directions from Narita on the web site. Quiet is good because it means no noise while you sleep. This was great after 12 hour flight.
Lobby smells fresh like a spa upon entering. Staff at desk, though reserved, were so helpful when we asked for directions, which was every time we stepped out. Room was so much nicer then I expected. Couldn't get the non-smoking room but they gave us air freshner which we ended up not even needing to use. After readin about small rooms in Tokyo, I felt this room had more than enough space. This place feels very new. Beds very comfy, lovely in room tea set, bathroom spacious with big shower/tub, good smelling bath products, awesome bidet that I would like at home.
All in all, I was a little anxious about my trip but this hotel and quiet area helped me settle right in.More
