It was quite sad that none of the tourist guide mentioned Marunouchi as one of the recommended shopping place.

I work in Marunouchi. Other than really good restaurants are ample here, shopping is great. Marunouchi Building, and many other buildings in this area have nice boutiques, etc. it is not crowded like Shibuya, Shinjuku or Ikebukuro. I just love this place ..

Marunouchi is famoce as business town ,but here is also one of the best fashionable and sophisticated street in Tokyo.
Especially,"Naka Doori" has many elegant shops (BEAMS,United arrows,Tomorrow land are Japanese upper middle class multi brand stores for clothe.)and worth for walking around for just window shopping.
In "Maru Bilu" and "Shin Maru Bilu" have also some kinds of good shops and restraints(little bit expensive than usual),and basement floor has cheaper cafe than upper floor.
"OAZO" has big book shop "Maruzen" ,you can find small book corner for foreigner in 4th floor.

A very elegant area with large ponds (artificial lakes?) and trees. Nice walking area. Tokyo Station has an entrance from Marunouchi.

I love the Marunochi area. You don't have to go into the French patisseries and high end stores -- the greens and the beautiful buildings can be enjoyed for free. And if you do want to eat macarons and buy a fancy purse, those are here, too, along with a few museums. Both worlds.

I had fun just walking along the sidewalk, dodging salarymen in black suits going from one office to the next (with one or two in bicycles). When night fell, the trees were lit up with Christmas lights. It was awesome. And to think I was just killing time.
