Amazing solo breakfast experience sitting with my new friend Moomin eating my chocolate bun with an art latte. Amazing. Arrived before 8am opening time and there were already people waiting for their favourite table!

Came here twice while in Tokyo (that's how much I loved it). It's such a fun and nice idea for stuffed animals to sit with the diners. It really does make your table seem more social, and seemed to bring genuine comfort to those dining alone. Japan, generally, is a kind place to introverts.

Weekday mornings are nice and quiet. For breakfast, there's no table service. Go over to the bakery to the left of the dining area, help yourself to some baked goods, take them to the counter to pay, and order your drinks at the same time. Then you take your pastries over to a table and someone will bring your drink over (as well as a Moomin hopefully). Staff were great at rotating the Moomins so that everyone got a chance to sit with a character or two. There's also a small gift shop attached, although a large Moomin of your very own will set you back over $100 - might be better to visit.

At busier weekend times, you may need to join a queue waiting outside to be seated. Highly recommend, not just for kids. Equally fine to come with a friend or on your own.

This is such a fun and magical cafe! I came here with my friend and we giggled our way through the whole meal! Also, I wasn't expecting the food to be amazing and came here more for the experience of sitting with the moomin characters, but the food was delicious! We did the lunch deal which included a starter of soup (delicious!), unlimited bread which you can toast yourself, salad, and a main course and drink included! The food was so cool and decorated like food art, but surprisingly yummy also! We wanted to try the desert but we're very full from the lunch so didn't in the end. Shop also attached to a gift shop with a nice selection of merchandise, also make sure you try on the moomin hats which are so ridiculous but very funny to wear whilst eating. The characters are so cute and fun to dine with, overall I would recommend this place to anyone.

We came in The early afternoon and didnt have to wait in line or anything, which was great. Id say the café was half-full.
Coming from Sweden, we have some prior knowledge about the moomin characters, and found it real fun to experience them as stuffed animals in a café!

The Coffee and pancakes were good but the best part was having Muminpappan seated at our table, although he wasnt much of a talker. When he had to get going we had another character "förfadern (the ancestor) joining us at the table. The staff did a good job of circulating the characters so everybody could have someone at their table! All in all a pleasant and cute break.

The positives:
An ok welcome greeted us and we were quickly sat at a table accompanied by a huge moomin character (a nice touch). We went mid-week and apart from my husband and I the place was filled with mummies and babies. The moomin bakery next to the cafe looked nice.

The negatives:
The place needed a deep clean. Seriously dust and cobwebs so thick they would be at home in a house of horrors. The moomin at our table was dirty and needed an introduction to a washing machine! Goodness only knows what bacteria and germs it was breeding...
Menu mostly in Japanese and food distinctly average and expensive. It's clearly a tourist/mummy and child trap and one I would avoid. If you want a Japanese kitsch experience go elsewhere.
