Coming in from a morning flight, we deposited our bags at El Portal Inn, then requested a tricycle driver to bring us to the Island City Mall for lunch, Craving for seafoods, we asked the security guard if there was a seafood resto in the mall. He pointed out THE PRAWN FARM. From the outside it looked like a fine dining restaurant so we were a bit hesitant to enter. But then we saw the fish tanks loaded with sea creatures and our feet propelled us inside. We were led by a gracious waitress to a an airconditioned place with a view. Looking at the menu, we were overwhelmed by the variety of cuisine it offered...but being on a budget, we ordered the SEAFOODS STEAMED IN a bed of SALT, the bouillabase soup and some vegetable dish for the three of us. We were surprised when the waitress wheeled in a portable steamer and a platter of about 6 pcs big raw prawns, some clams, fish fillets, squids, and 4sticks of pork barbq. We watched excitedly while the seafoods and bbq turned red in the steamer. We finished off the soup which was creamy and tasty with lots of seafoods swimming in it. When the waitress transferred the steamed foods into a big platter, we immediately sampled the prawns - which turned out to be succulent and really fresh with a sweetish tang. The clams were a bit overcooked but no matter they still tasted good. The fish fillets and squjids were done just right. the pork bbq, surprisingly, was tender and marinated perfectly. The shrimp gambas was also good. For this very good and filling lunch, our bill was only P1,300+. The precious seafood platter cost only P800.00, and the whole meal was about P1,300 only. Lots of other courses in the menu which looked really good.
I heard that the owner of the Island City Mall owns the resto and that the seafoods come directly from their ponds, that is why they/re truly fresh...
Hope they branch out here in Manila...DON'T MISS THIS RESTO IF EVER YOU'RE IN BOHOL!
