La Nueva Pachanga is a roadside eatery that serves native Puerto Rican food. It is one of the authentic local places that makes you feel like you have made a real discovery when you eat there.
Its offerings are hearty, generous and contain items you will not find everywhere. We were taken here by a Puerto Rican friend who drove out of his way to stop here on our way to Aguas Buenas.
The primary business of this establishment is take away but they do have several picnic tables under the overhanging metal roof.
You dont need to speak Spanish to select what you would like. Its done cafeteria style where you can just point at your choices. They have BBQ ribs, chicken, pork and beef. Then you get to choose among several vegetable sides including giant sweet potatoes that are cooked so the sugars on outside start to char. Very yummy. Also they over several types of cooked plantains and bananas that are also very unique.
This is a place where your willingness to take a chance on something unfamiliar is going to be rewarded. If there are several people in your group I would suggest making sure you get as large a variety of the vegetable offerings as you can and then share.
It's very inexpensive and a place you are unlikely to forget.
