“Some things seem to never change”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

Visited PI and Sabang several times during mid 1980s. I used to stay next door to the Tamarind. Food was always great and good value, beer icy cold and hospitality second to none. Bernie was always a great host. Seems nothing much has changed in all that time. Would love to go back and say hello.

“Best restaurant in the area.”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

Loved this restaurant. Right on the water, the restaurant has a lovely ambience. Had lunch there...burgers with bacon and cheese. The best I've had in a long time, served with wonderful Texan fries! But the ribs have got to be the best ever, perfectly cooked in a delicious sauce, portions are huge, served with fries, no need for them. Service was good although the drinks did take a bit of time to arrive.

“Best in Area”
Reviewed August 18, 2013 via mobile

Great atmosphere, and on the water. The open setting enables a cool breeze, even when it is an uncomfortably hot evening. The ribs are very tender, and the potions are huge. I make it a point to eat there at least once on every dive trip to Puerto Galera.

“The best spare ribs I ever had”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

If you like meat and don't be afraid of big pieces, go to this place and order the "Tamarind all time favorites", the spare ribs.

So far when I ordered spare rips in other restaurants in the world I got big pieces of seveal bones connected with some meat in between that you have to work out hardly. Here they serve two pieces, both about 25 centimers long, and all the long side is covered with excellant meat prepared with a delicious honey spices marinade and grilled over the fire. You just can take your knife and cut, and cut, and cut. And enjoy. And this for 550 Pesos.

As mentioned in a comment before they serve in the time you wait as additional part some green salad in. A very nice action.

As you see in the homepage all the restaurant is build with wood and located directly at the beach front. Specially when you go in the night the warm light of the bulbs bring a wonderful tropical atmosphere.

“Lovely Atmosphere; Good Food”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

Only one or two other restaurants in the area can boast of such a nice environment and atmosphere: Hemingway's, a little to the west, and the restaurant at El Galleon, in Small Lalaguna, the enclave just beyond the marvellous 'Point Bar' still a bit further west. You are right at the seaside in all of these places, with nice lighting, comfortable tables, and so on.

Twice I had the barbecued spare ribs and I thought they were excellent, especially with a little bit of extra barbecue sauce (already on the table). So did our guest, who has been living in the area for twenty-seven years. They were not too salty for my palate, and had been slow-cooked for a long time so that they were nice and tender, and needless to say, thoroughly cooked to that pinkish perfection that ribs should have.

What you really prize at this place is the nice atmosphere, which is a function of the location, the nice lighting, and the materials you're surrounded by -- the bamboo walls, and all that.
