“Relaxing”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

This is a beautiful place to spend some days if you want nature, peace and relax, you must take a taxi cab from Yanque ( 5 minutes ) or from Chivay ( maybe 20 minutes ). It´s a really big place, where you can take baths in the thermal waters at any hour. It´s a nice experience to go to the pool at midnight or early in the morning. During the day, you can take a walk around.

You can go to the spa and have massages, therapies, etc. The inside thermal pool and the jacuzzis have got great views. About the rooms, most of them have got a second floor; they've got hot water all day.

The breakfast is included in the price, you can have juice, milk, tea; bread, cake, fruit, yogurt... whatever you want. People working there are kind and helpful.

On the other hand, everything there is a little expensive and if you want to go to Chivay or other place, you must ask in reception for a taxi, because the Hotel is in the middle of two towns and there's nothing around it.

Stayed three nights and didn't regret a minute of it. Accommodation was not luxurious but certainly comfortable and soaking in the hot springs was a definite plus. Very good food and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Well located to visit Colca Canyon because you will be ahead of 'the pack' that stays at hotels in Chivay when it comes to the early morning rush to see the condors.
Some nice walks as well if you decide to stay the extra day.

We went there as part of a tour of the Colca Canyon for just the one night. The access is indeed precarious but once there the magic starts. As the sun goes down the changing light over the valley gets you in the mood for the excellent food in the restaurant but first, it's a good idea to have a soak in the lovely warm waters of the hot springs. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and we both slept well. Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the drive up to Condor Cross. Very special place!

We spend (3 couples) 2 nights at the Colca Lodge, the rooms and beds were extremely comfortable, plenty of hot water for showers, heat in the rooms and warm blankets and comforters. The setting is magical, the staff discreet and helpful. We took advantage of the Spa ( massage, steam room and hot thermal bath overlooking the canyon), lovely experience and very relaxing. The outside thermal baths were at different temperatures so you could choose which temperature suits you the best, we had lunch at the pools and it was very tasty and fresh, with friendly service. The lodge is just beautiful in a fantastic breathtaking setting, many areas to hike and explore . We all had agreat time (horseback riding was fun) and would return and stay longer to really explore fully the area and visit the surrounding ruins and villages .

Room Tip: the lodge is very spread out, ask for a room close to main building if mobility is an issue

Close to nature and an oasis of green and calm in the valley bottom, this eco-friendly hotel was a gem! Warm, welcoming, with helpful staff, it was a shame that we only had one night here before visiting Colca Canyon the following morning after a super breakfast. The choice of food was excellent and to have an omelette cooked to order was a plus. The bumpy ride to reach the hotel was well worth the effort when we finally found our room, in one of the little houses/studios spread over the grounds, with wonderful views of the mountains, the river and the valley. The room was spacious and clean yet quite simple with a heater to use if it felt chilly. We took advantage of the hot springs after the long drive from Arequipa in spite of some drizzly rain which, because of cloud cover, prevented us from seeing the stars without the usual light pollution, Afterwards we also booked a massage in the spa; a most relaxing treat. The rain, which had caused disappointment the night before, in fact made the morning quite magical as overnight the mountain tops had been coated in fresh snow. Would have loved to have had longer with time to explore but it was a magical start to a breathtaking experience at Cruz Del Condor.

This place is in a great setting overlooking the Colca Valley. The hot springs which are part of the complex were a great way to relax after a hard day travelling from Arequipa - we were even able to get drinks served from the outdoor bar whilst enjoying the springs. Nice lounge complete with log fire. Room was a spacious duplex, but was a little too warm overnight to get a good sleep. Presumably the heating is supplied from the thermal springs, so is hard to control. Pleasant staff who were always willing to assist. Ideally located for getting up early to see the condors at the Cruz del Condor just a few kilometres away. Also for taking walks along the valley and encountering some of the locals in traditional costume along the way. Definitely recommended.

After a bit of an effort finding the place (we drove ourselves all around Peru and Bolivia), asking locals for directions, we made it to this oasis in the canyon. A wonderful place to chill out for a few days and base yourself whilst seeing the sights. The access road is precarious to say the least, but the facilities once there are fantastic. Rooms are large, beds very comfortable, bathrooms excellent, resturant and service great!. Not sure about the heating system though, if anything it was far toooooo warm in the rooms. Set at 24 degrees Celcius, there was nothing you could do to turn it down. Other than that we can only say great things about Colca Lodge Spa & Hot Springs.
