My children and I popped into the Crown Inn late on a Monday morning during a week's holiday in Hampshire for a sandwich and were told "we don't do food on a Monday". No explanation was given and I find it very hard to believe that a pub in a market town in a tourist hotspot like Fordingbridge are not prepared to cater for anyone who comes in. Very poor and would not recommend such service.

Have stayed twice before at the Crown, Pub has 4 rooms beside the pub, rooms not that big but has everything you need and on suite, Have eaten each time in the pub, good menu, nice curry, breakfast is only continental unless you pay extra, £49 for two of us is not bad.

We've stayed here a couple of times now when we've been attending events in Fordingbridge. Both times we've been allocated the double room at the front of the building.

Yes, the rooms are basic, but they have everything you might need for a short stopover. The bed is comfy and during August the owners had thoughtfully supplied an electric fan to help cool the room. There's tea- and coffee-making facilities and a small telly, space to hang and fold clothes, a decent sized mirror and reading lights on both sides of the bed. The shower is of the electric sort and is perfectly adequate (in fact it's the same one we have at home, so no complaints there!). There's a mirror in the shower room with a light over it which is perfect for shaving etc.

The area housing the guest rooms has its own private entrance and it's nice to not have to go through the bar all the time. There is a short spiral staircase up to the rooms but it is wide and well lit with a handrail.

The Crown has its own small car park at the back, but behind that there's a massive pay and display which is averagely priced.

Although our room faced onto the road we suffered very little noise at night (both times we have stayed have been Saturday nights). The window has pretty Venetian blinds which make it easy to alter the amount of light coming in.

The pub itself it pretty buzzy at weekends with a good mix of ages drinking in the bar. The bar prices are reasonable and the staff are very friendly. We haven't eaten in the pub but they do serve evening meals. If you fancy some variety in the evening there's two other pubs very close by and a restaurant a couple of minutes walk away with views over the river.

The Crown is right in the middle of Fordingbridge so it's easy to access the town's facilities. There's a cashpoint a few yards away, a newsagent just over the road and a small Co-Op supermarket almost next door. The town has three banks (HSBC, Lloyds and Natwest), plus many independant shops (more than you might see in a town twice the size) including a delicatessen, ladies' clothing shops, bakers, florist, gift shop, book shop and toy/collectors shop. The town itself is very well kept and clean.

Although a continental breakfast is included, I suggest you pay the £5 extra for the cooked breakfast - it's AWESOME! Plenty of it and loads of toast and coffee for way less than you'd pay in a cafe.

We've already booked again for next March when we're attending an event at Fordingbridge Town Hall (which is directly opposite the Crown). As it only has three guest rooms it can get booked up quite far in advance so it's worth booking ahead. Payment can be made by card as well as cash which is quite handy.
