“A little gem”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

My wife and I went to the Little Mere for our wedding anniversary dinner. It is a very quaint restaurant off the beaten track. We were welcomed into the conservatory/lounge, seated, and asked for our drink choices. Here we drunk our drinks until our table was ready. The dining room had four tables, all with a respectful distance between them, No music was playing and the ambiance was one of gentle chatter. Our table had been lightly scattered with small, decorative love-hearts. A very nice touch. (Thank you.)

The service was impeccable. Attentive but unobtrusive. I would best describe it as 'Old School'. We were offered a free pre-starter which was delicious. It boded well for the rest of the meal. Each course seemed to better the last. Perfectly cooked, sublime flavours, beautifully presented. It gave us the perfect end to a wonderful day. Highly recommended.

“Fabulous little restaurant - Great food, service and atmosphere”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

Best meal I've eaten in several years. Quiet, calm little place on the Western fringe of the New Forest, with beautiful food, excellent service and a lovely ambience. Only open in the evenings on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunch - which is a great shame, operates as a tea room during the day. If this was close to home I'd be here regularly. We will return! But make sure you book a table - they seem to be fully booked most of the time.

“Special occasion meal”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

The evening meal is excellent with a good range of food. Lovely surroundings and very attentive & friendly staff. Medium to high price range but well worth the money & there was plenty of room between the tables which is not often the case in some restaurants.

“Lovely little tearooms”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

This is probably the 4th time or so we have been to the tearooms, we camp in the New Forest once a year and hire bikes and this is always on our route.

A lovely little tearooms selling the most to die for carrot cake! They have a little patio area where you can sit out with a pleasant garden to look over and a conservatory. They also do afternoon tea which is something we might try in the future. The opening times have changed from last year now its 2 - 5pm which caught us out this time but we made sure we got back to have our coffee and cake. It is very homely and the young lady serving was very friendly and helpful and when we mentioned the evening dining she brought us the menu to look through. Thurs through to and including Saturday night it become a restaurant. It is right in the heart of the New Forest but so worth a visit. It is small and cosy and I would guess if eating in the evening booking in advance would be best. Next year we plan to eat there in the evening. Can thoroughly recommend this lovely little eatery.
