“Disappointing”
Reviewed July 4, 2014

This is a beautiful Manoir in a beautiful area. Perfectly situated for the town in a quiet area. The room was " shabby chic" and fitted the ambience however the bed was on the small side and the mattress " tired" . Good, powerful shower in ensuite washroom. Separate ensuite toilet. Swimming pool in gardens and sitting out area. Towels supplied for swimming.
Disappointing was the 5 euros for parking on site ( ample free parking close by) although, this is " safe" parking as gates locked at night. Also the owner did not seem very trusting and we felt like we were being " watched" all the time we ventured into the communal areas. The owner serves drinks in the summer in the outside bar but does not allow you to take nibbles in with you to " picnic" in the gardens. We seemed to be the only people staying that night and so it was very quiet and peaceful.
We booked with booking.com and got a late deal so it was a fairly good price given building and facilities but we did not stay for breakfast, which was extra.

Having chose Argenton as a village to stay in on the way back from southern France to le harve,we hoped, from the number of logis in the area, it would fit the spot. Driving through we spotted a small sign for the hotel. Curiosity for small streets lead us to this delightful hotel. Madame was so polite and correct, and showed us a lovely room on the ground floor (18),just off the salon. It was just what we were looking for - Old France. This bed and breaks fast hotel is ideally situated in the centre of town, allowing walks along the river and up into the medieval town. And of course to a number of resteraunts and brasseries (not always open on Sundays).

We stayed for one night on our way back to calais. On arrival our first reaction was wow. It is a charming house. We arrived on a very hot day and the swimming pool was a welcome sight. The rooms although not big are vlean and are decorated in keeping with the house. We would have liked to have opened our shutters to the room but had to keep them closed to keep the heat out. No air con. The breakfast is standard continental. The gardens are very relaxing. The owner is pleasant. It is around the corner to a lovely river and an ideal place to visit the beautiful village of Argenton Sur Creuse.

We stopped here overnight on our way down south. The Manoir is a pleasant enough place. The room was fine if a little pokey. The place was clean, and there was plenty of hot water in the shower.

The garden was a very pleasant place to spend a sunny August end-of-afternoon - the kids in the pool, the parents on the terrace under a parasol, sipping beers.

Service was fine but the welcome was stiff and not terribly friendly.

The town's river-front is quite scenic if you feel like heading out for a little walk. Not much else around though.

The Manoir is perhaps a little expensive for what it is, but I suppose it's not too bad choice for an overnight if you're going that way.

A very pretty hotel, hidden away next to the river in Argenton-sur-Creuse. Furnished in typically French traditional style, our room was in the annexe, Basic furnishings but clean and comfy bed. The owner was pleasant but not overly-welcoming and we found it a bit strange when we returned from our evening meal in the village (no restaurant in the hotel) and sat in the garden whilst the owners tucked into their meal. We would have liked a drink but no-one came and asked us - they are missing out on a reasonable amount of custom. It was also a Monday and a Bank holiday so we only found one brasserie and another hotel with a restaurant that was open in the town.
Very pretty town with medieval houses lining the riverbank. Car parking was 5 euros and it was very small but they did let some late arrivals park in another area near their own house. There is more parking out on the side road and near the river but not secure.
Garden was pleasant and the pool was very clean, towels were available for pool use but we weren't offered any. Do ask for them as the towels in the room were small. Bathroom was a bit dated and had a separate loo, no fridge or tea or coffe-making facilities in room.

Booked a suite for a one night stay with our teenage daughter; lovely quiet rooms with attractive decor and lots of character. The pool was a real bonus, set in pretty gardens with an outside bar. Views from both windows were beautiful, and the hotel is well situated for walks around the town. The owners were friendly and offered a simple but tasty breakfast, but be prepared to speak French!

Luckily there was room for us for a one night stay in sweet town of Argenton-Sur Creuse. Traditionally furnished french hotel with very clean and updated bath/shower room with much appreciated extras such as good soap and hairdryer. The bed was comfortable, double open window to the river view, internet throughout the hotel. The hosts were genial, breakfast traditional and good - juice, croissant, bread, butter, jam, yogurt and coffee, tea - choice of cereal, cheese on sideboard. Lovely garden/pool outside though too cool when we were there. Car park inside gate and all spotlessly clean. All for good price and we would certainly return.

Room Tip: If possible, get on on the river view side.
