“Long weekend in the bushveld”
Reviewed June 20, 2014

We stayed at Soul of Africa from 15 to 17 June 2014 after being referred by a friend. From the first point of contact via phone, Carla made us feel very special and we couldnt wait to get to the Lodge to experience the bushveld and her hospitality. She is an exceptional hostess and went out of her way to ensure we were enjoying ourselves at all times. Her food is extraordinary and the service was fantastic. Sitting in the boma at night around the campfire was really enjoyable. Super super place.

We stayed only 1 night regretably. The host Carla was so stunning made us feel very welcome and at home. The meals where outstanding. Its was as if we were royality, nothing was too much trouble for her, she coud'nt do enough for us....she even massaged my husbands shoulders. We will definately be returning and telling all our friends about this hidden away lodge.

After reading multiple positive reviews about this lodge, I wanted to see what this place was all about-so I booked a two night stay to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. Not only was I amazed at the beautiful surroundings and the lodge itself, the service from Karla and Daven was exceptional!! From the moment we stepped foot into the lodge, we were treated like gold. Unfortunately the weather did not hold out, but Daven made sure that as soon as the rain stopped for a while, we were whisked away on a game drive. Attention to detail is at its maximum. Food is just devine. Relaxation and rejuvination is guaranteed. One of the nicest places we have visited in a very long time, and we will be sure to book again. Make sure you give them a call before you leave JHB so that they give you correct directions - the wrong dirt road is not suitable for standard vehicles.

My husband and I revisited this beautiful lodge for the 4th time in 10 months and we will definitely return. The lodge is consistent in it's overall experience and we leave relaxed and refreshed every time. This was our first time visiting in the rainy season and the bush was absolutely beautiful. We saw plenty of game, and the viewing experience in the evenings from the boma sitting next to a campfire is very special. The lodge is run by a fantastic couple, Carla and Daven, and they stop at nothing to make sure you have a personal and unique experience. Carla is a wizard in the kitchen and Daven a most informed and helpful guide. You arrive as guests and leave as friends. We will be back soon!

Room Tip: For game viewing from your room ask for a waterhole facing room, but all are exceptional in their ow...

We stayed for four nights in January 2014. What a pleasure! Game drives, long walks, lots of good food, and very friendly but professional personnel, etc. Being in a summer rainfall area, the bush was dense but the many animals were seen often, lots of cute babies. As can be expected, some days were hot but cooling rain sorted that little problem, and if you wanted to cool down more, the air-conditioned room or swimming pool can do the trick. The biodiversity on this farm is large! Lots to see and do for plant-, bird-, insect-, animal- and rock-lovers!

Room Tip: Do contact them before you leave home to find out which of the two possible roads are best for your...

Soul of Africa is an amazing place on the Waterberg, only 2.5 hours away from Sandton, but you will feel you at the end of the earth!...its beautiful, serene, and very exclusive. the chalets are gorgeous with a stunning huge roman bath.. and very private, the views truly magnificent!. Some of the best we have experienced! The hosts, Daven and Carla welcomed us as if we were long-time friends...the game drives were great also, and walks are a pleasure since there is are no dangerous animals around. Not a place of the big five, but once you there you will not miss it!..We simply loved this place and highly recommend it.

Beautiful lodge, wonderful food and warm and caring hosts, what more can one ask for? Every detail is taken care off, and Carla, Daven and their friendly staff makes this a truly 5 star experience.

Located far enough away from the city to really feel like a getaway, but close enough to make it a regular visit. The rooms are spacious and luxurious and the game viewing from the deck and restaurant is breathtaking.

Will be back again without a doubt, and can recommend Soul of Africa for a weekend away or longer stays. We found a little piece of heaven.
