“Dinner for two”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2013

Great service, great food, great atmosphere.
Its not too pricey, range of different meals are available, from fish to curry. We had nice freshly backed bread and olives and two different mains that were very tasty and meet our expectations.

“Lovely relaxed atmosphere but pricey”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2013

Loved the restraunt but we did feel it was a little overpriced, portion sizes are on the small side although perfect for me but small for my partner.
Lovely atmosphere and after walking around in our robes all day it was nice to dress up and nice to see we wasn't over dressed.
Staff were excellent although we had to wait over 20 mins for a drink at the bar as our table wasn't ready and we waited around 40mins to be seated, we didn't mind but some people may get rather inpatient.
Staff were lovely and friendly and we couldnt fault them although we do feel the hotel shouldve been more prepared and had more staff on.

“Well presented but overpriced.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2013

I had the Mediterranean Tagliatelle for my main and it didn't really measure up to my expectations from a previous Essex chef of the year. It was nice, but nothing special - had barely any parmesan on. It was lacking something, maybe some buffalo mozzarella or some stronger flavours such as more red onion as I only had about 2 slices.
The chips were nice but again nothing special. They didn't have English mustard, only a wholegrain version that tasted of nothing but vinegar.
If you're staying at the Lifehouse I recommend going up the road to Harry's Bar & Restaurant (walk-15 mins, car-5 mins. Get out of lifehouse, turn left and go straight, it's on the left), much nicer food with better portion sizes.

“Tasty Treats”

I had the delicious poached haddock, partner had a rather inauthentic, but apparently very very tasty Thai Green Curry.
