My partner and I visited for a relaxing weekend after a particularly stressful house move, and came back practically horizontal, we were so relaxed!! When we first arrived we'd been given a twin rather than double, but seeing our disappointment, the very helpful receptionist sorted this out for us. The food was delicious and our spa treatments out of this world! The building is set in beautiful grounds with nice walks and bike rides around (they have bikes to borrow) and the atmosphere throughout is incredibly laid-back, which was just what we needed. We got a particularly good deal, from booking it through their website the day before we got there.

First time visiting Lifehouse Spa, and neither of us could find any major negatives at all. From the second we turned up, the staff were all really really friendly and couldn't do enough to help us. Our room wasn't ready at 3pm when we turned up, but we were offered complimentary drinks in the bar whilst we waited and studied out agenda for the weekend. Rooms were really clean and tidy looking, bed was EXTREMELY comfy and we got upgraded to a room with a view over the gardens and some seating outside which was really nice. Spa and pool were perfect as were the treatments. The food was very good at dinner, although it was amazing at lunch! The steak was brilliant.
The only miniature gripe we had was that the place is mostly occupied by couples, but the bar area isn't really geared up for couples to sit and have a drink. There is seating outside, but all the indoors seating is for groups. Although, this is a tiny insignificant pedantic point.

Final mention to the waiting staff in the evening and the girl that was there till 2am and then back in again for breakfast at 7am, she was so friendly and polite and made the stay alot brighter. Thank you.

Thank you for your review. It makes us very proud to read such lovely comments about our staff.

We take on board your thoughts about the seating in the bar. Guest feedback is so important to us, as without it we would be unable to improve.

Hopefully it won't be too long before the echos of your stay are calling you back for another break from the hustle and bustle of life. We look forward to seeing you again!

When we go to a spa we want to feel relaxed from the moment we walk into reception. Sadly many hotels fail but Lifehouse Spa didn't. From the chap who met us at the door to the receptionist booking us out, we were very pleased with the way staff treated us.
The facilities were good and clean.
Breakfast wasn't exeptional but certainly enjoyable.
Our room was overlooking the beautiful gardens which was lovely. The room itself was bright, modern and clean.
For the price I would definitely recommend anyone who likes a slightly less formal spa with lovely staff.

The setting and facilities at Lifehouse are fantastic - it's a great place to go for a relaxing spa. However, service is mixed. Our receptionist was unfriendly, and had moved our treatment appointments to a slot the day before we booked, 10 mins before we had even arrived at the hotel. Her first words were - you better hurry to your appointment. Once they rang the spa, we then got the appointment we'd asked for, but took a lot of persuasion for her to ring and change it for us.
Room wasnt ready at check - in time either.
Food ok - but not v healthy considering its a spa. Treatments and pool great though.

Thank you for your review.
We are sorry that your schedule was disrupted. The only reason we would usually have to reschedule a treatment appointment would be down to staff abence. This is of course unforseen circumstance and we would always do our best to resolve the situation without affecting your experience as a guest.

Our menus offer a selection of options to cater for those who are looking for the healthier choice as well as those who come away to indulge. We offer something for everyone as we like you -the guests- to make your own rules.

We are pleased that you enjoyed your treatments. Watch our website or join us on Facebook or Twitter to keep up with all our news. We are launching a brand new treatment menu next week!

We hope to welcome you back.

This was a repeat visit, having been previously shortly after it opened. As other reviewers have mentioned there is a change to what was originally on offer. Not just in terms of the bigger picture things eg there is no aveda hair salon now and what was the library appears to have been locked and cleared, but also a switch from branded products in bedrooms - may have been Elimiss or aveda - to in branded and not many at that - one per room of shampoo , shower gel And body lotion. we also found no robes in rooms!

That said The food continues to be great although the extras add up, particularly when there are far too few free water machines about for a spa.

The therapists were all lovely. Reception staff not very friendly or overly helpful.

The treatments were all excellent

Room is fine, clean but not plush. It's a shame we couldn't seem to find the thermostat as it got pretty hot even with the window Adjar

All in all I think the package we got was fair value but i was left with the feeling that some aspects of the scperience do need attention.

Thank you for your comments. We genuinely welcome constructive feedback as without it we would not be able to improve.

It is encouraging to hear that you have been impressed on both visits with the quality of food on offer.
Drinking water is freely available in the relaxation room or from the juice bar, located centrally in the spa.
For your room, we are pleased to offer additional toiletries upon request, should you find that you need more than is supplied.

Since March this year, The Lifehouse has been under new ownership and some inevitable changes to the look and layout of the spa and hotel have been made over the past few weeks. The Library has been temporarily relocated to our bright and airy glass atrium overlooking the gardens, whilst work continues behind the scenes to improve the facilities we offer.

We hope to be able to welcome you back for a third visit. For another great value package, be sure to book with us directly, or keep up with all the new on Facebook and Twitter.

We stayed one night at this hotel when we were on other business in the area so we didn't really take advantage of the various treatments on offer. The treatments are quite expensive or we might have given them a go. Our room was lovely, clean and bright with a great view over the garden. The whole place is calm and relaxing and the staff seem very pleasant it not a bit robotic in their questions about whether they can help you at all and is everything alright etc etc. Breakfast was adequate - fruit, jams, bread, toast, cheese, ham, that sort of thing. You would have to pay an extra £7.50 each for a cooked breakfast. We didn't have dinner at the hotel so can't comment on the dining room.

The grounds are lovely and very extensive and you can hire a bike to explore. We had a walk in the morning after breakfast and apparently you can use the grounds even after you have checked out if you want to walk or cycle.

Peace and tranquility is so hard to find these days - we are pleased that you found it here at Lifehouse!

Our gardens are beautiful throughout the seasons and offer a great extension to the calming surroundings of the spa. You can indeed enjoy the grounds after you have checked out - or even as a non-resident. Watch out for our garden tours where our Estates & Gardens Manager, Jan Mickalak will delight in telling you about the extensive history behind The Lifehouse you see today!

Hopefully on your next visit you will have more time to enjoy the facilities and perhaps indulge yourself in a little pampering - our new treatment menu will be launched next week. Join us on Facebook or Twitter to keep up with all the news!

We hope to welcome you back soon.

I fell in love with the setting of the place- the architecture is phenomenal and blends in with the surrounding nature- despite its very modern appearance. The interior is fab and of good taste. If it weren`t for the oddities that happened continuously, I would definitely book a 3/4 day stay at this place to un-wind.
My boyfriend had surprised me with a stay at this lovely place during the Queen´s Diamond Jubilee Bank Holiday. We had to wait well over an hour for our room to be ready- we were sent back and forth to the dining area / café and the lady at reception eventually claimed that we should have been there earlier -as if we had been late for check-in- not realizing, probably, that we had waited more than a hour to get our room.
When we finally got our room, we hurried to get to the Spa area to make most of our time there- unfortunately there were no bathrobes and slippers...my boyfriend phoned reception whereby they promised to take care of it. Well...we never got those robes nor slippers- We eventually went to the reception in our swimming gear to pick them up ourselves.
The Spa experience was not bad at all- enjoyed the Spa facilities -although the place was pretty full- which suggests that a stay on a Bank Holiday is probably not advisable- unless you don´t mind to wait a bit until you can get into the pool / Whirlpool.
Dinner was really good- nothing to complain there-
What was indeed disappointing the next day, was Breakfast. We had arrived there at 9.30- and yes, indeed we should have been told that Breakfast was only served until 09h00- and the Manager allowed us to have Breakfast- there was not much left- and unless you pay an extra whopping 7.50, I believe it was, you are left with Toast, Butter, Jam, ham, cheese and diverse cereals & juice. None of it looked particularly special. And the full English Breakfast at an extra cost was very minimalistic too.
The therapy rooms are beautiful and the massagist did a good job- I would recommend to book a few treatments at this place.
The sleeping & relaxation room was enticing- although...we joked about the massage chairs (5 in total in the room) as they were pretty loud and the sounds were comparable to life-support machines in a hospital. Not the sort of noises you want to hear whilst 'relaxing'- i much preferred the sleeping areas, such as at Whittlebury Hall, where you have proper retreat rooms, with feather Duvets where you can have a proper snooze.
Finally, the check-out took quite some time again- it is questionable why credit card details have been taken from at check-in but now reception asked for the card again- they seemed to be quite puzzled if one asked what the point was to ask for the credit card details at check-in in the first place- this is but a minor point- but clearly an admin hiccup that suggests they don`t really seem to know what they are doing...
Also...you need more showers & hairdryers in the general Changing areas- most guests would want to go for a swim etc. before departure- waiting for ages until it is your turn to have a shower does not leave you in a relaxed mood on the last day.

Thank you for your review, and for detailing your thoughts about your stay.

It is pleasing to read your many possitive comments about our beautiful setting, spa facilities, and enjoyable dinner, as well as the fact that you enjoyed your treatments so much that you would recommend others to book several.

We are disappointed, however, to learn that there were some aspects of your stay which were not as seemless as we would aim to deliver. As you rightly point out, your stay over the Jubilee weekend was indeed a very busy time, meaning that our facilities we occupied more than on an average day.

Breakfast is served daily in Waterlilies from 7.30 to 9.30, and would not have ceased at 9am. We aim to provide a range to cater for all on our continental buffet, and offer the full English breakfast as an upgrade option for those who wish for a larger breakfast.

Your feedback on our changing facilities is valid and noted. This is an issue which is currently being addressed in order to provide a more generous changing room area.

We hope to be able to welcome you back again in the future to see these improvements.

Best wishes The Lifehouse Spa & Hotel
