“Great value for price”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Service could be better, but food was excellent. Specially grilled turbot. A big one for 4 persons. Sea food in general is first class.

“Excellent fish restaurant”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

We found this restaurant by chance and at first glance did not realize it was a restaurant. When we climbed the stairs to the restaurant, we immediately noticed that most of the customers were Spanish rather than tourists - a good sign. The food was excellent - both the seafood and the catch of the day, salads, and soup. Our waitress spoke some English and was very helpful. It was probably the most expensive restaurant we ate in while in Spain but also one of the most enjoyable. We did not have a table by the window overlooking the sea but were still able to see if from our inside table.

“Unbelievable seafood”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

I went with my friend who just wrote before me and agree 100%. One of the best seafood I´ve ever had! If you prefer food to looks, don´t miss this place. Simple restaurant with fresh amazing seafood. It is worth the 20 min trip from San Sebastian (by car or bus). And as said before: food is amazing, but as most seafood restaurant it’s not a bargain.

“One of the Best Seafood Ever”
Reviewed July 1, 2012

We came to Getaria following a friends advice and ended in the Asador because of TripAdvisor - I can't imagine a better place for seafood. You can tell most of the costumers are locals and/or Spanish. Some others in town are fancy and rely on their views to the ocean - here the food is fantastic, great service and the price better than others around - although if you go for the jewels prepare your wallet! Don't miss the Bogavante, Rape or, especially, the Percebes, which you can only have in Portugal or here in Spain!

“Very popular with locals..”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

We went for lunch. We had booked a table overlooking the sea as it was my birthday which our hotel (Saiaz) confirmed which was probably a good idea as some of the tables for 2 by the windows are not great, but we got a very nice one- hence 4 stars for this revbiew- would gave the service only 2 stars- we noticed the waiting staff weren't that helpful or friendly with other tables. The restaurant gradually filled up and by 2.30-3pm was packed. Where is the crisis in SPain? The fish is priced per kg. We had turbot which was about 50euros for 2 persons. The main critiism was we had a waiter who spoke basque and although we were shown to our table by someone who spoke french(which I speak fluently) he disappeared. We could not communciate at all except though my poor spanish. We wanted to order accompaniement with our fish, but in the end gave up. The starter of iberian ham was as stated ham ( nothing else) and at 15 euros- pricey. The baked spider crab starter was very good. The turbot very fresh. The drinks and desserts were very reasonably priced. Bill for lunch was 110 euros so for us certainly not an everyday lunch.
