“Wonderful hacienda and wonderful view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2013

It's a wonderful place, in a banana plantation, next to Arucas, far from the tourists crowd.
The rooms are really beautiful , but try to reserve one of the rooms upstairs.
Wonderful atmosphere, great facilities, with warm jacuzzi, swimming pool, sauna.
The breakfast is excellent.
The dinner is not at the same level, but for that you can always go to Arucas.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms upstairs.

A one week holiday in January. La hacienda is a great place to stay. The building is fabulous- a few hundred years old - all stone and polished wood. The setting is lovely, with great hillside and sea views.

The menu at the restaurant was fairly basic, but reliable - both breakfast and evening meals. The staff were without exception friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble.

The only downside? The north end of the island was typically 3-5 degrees Celsius lower than the southern end whilst we we there. Would we return though? Certainly.

The Hacienda is a great place to stay for a short weekend trip or as base to discover the rest of the island. Lovely gardens, surrounded by banana plantations and a great pool with jacuzzi. Breakfast was OK and the rooms even though they have a lot of character, they could do with more care and attention.

I stayed in the hotel for three days to recover from a week of surfing. The hotel is as pretty as the surroundings. Our room was nice and clean, with a impeccable room service.

But I have to agree with the other reviews here that the quality of the food does not match the rest of the hotel. This goes for the lunch, which you can avoid by eating out, but also for the breakfast. Especially the instant coffee and bread and spread choices were depressing.

I first saw this small rural hotel near Arucas (Gran Canaria), Spain in March 2012. Right away my fiancée and I knew this was the right place for our wedding. In May 2012, we hired out the entire hotel and it became the 51st guest, photos (coming soon).

In short the venue is for those looking for peaceful place to rest for a few days. The staff were great throughout and met all our requests and those of our guest. In most cases they extended the Spanish hospitably well beyond what would normally be expected.

Because we had hired out the hotel, we didn't have to worry but other guests which could be a problem if you were staying there during big social events.

We eat in the restaurant days before our wedding and found the food to be OK. But there are better options in Arucas.

The pool was great for Chill-laxing especially at sunset with mates.

Would we stay there again - Yes and we live on the Island.

Room Tip: Couples, ask for a double bed mattress cover to fit over twice beds for a more comfortable sleep :-)

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2012

I stayed here in early June 2012 with my wife and 2 year old daughter. We were looking for something away from the crowds of package tourists that tend to flock to the island and our choice provided to be an excellent one.

The hacienda is extremely beautiful, very well maintained, spotlessly clean (rooms and grounds) and the design is a very tasteful combination of classical original architecture and refurnished modern decor.

The staff could not have been more friendly, the concierge made every effort to make us welcome, a child's bed was put in our room (without us even requesting it) and all the staff were exceedingly friendly and hospitable.

We booked for 3 nights and on the second night a wedding was booked in the garden and restaurant area. The staff went out of their way to inform us of the event and we were given a special menu that included roast pork in plumb sauce, with superb wine and cheeses the hotel had prepared for the wedding guests at no additional cost. I should add im a little perplexed at some of the negative reviews on the restaurant, we ate there at least once a day and found it superb on all occasions, including the breakfast that was plentiful and superb.

Ive stayed in a couple of Haciendas, including a couple in Mexico and Latina America and if you like colonial classical boutique hotels this is a must see. Highly recommended and we will be back when we get the chance.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2012

In February 2012 we returned for a second visit after a week in 2010. The hotel is in a peaceful and attractive location. The building and rooms are atmospheric and charming. The price represents good value. The area has many fascinating places to visit. Puerto del Nieves was my favourite but Sardinia, Teror, Las Palmas and Arucas itself are all interesting places to visit.

The winter weather does not however match that available in the south of the island. Visitors found that disappointing, indeed some moved out seeking the sun. In the day the staff are helpful but after 5pm there is only a limited night porter on hand. The wifi is very poor and the English tv service is very limited.

Breakfast is a good buffet with extras to order. The real problem is the food at dinner which is confined to 2 choices for each course and is of a rather ordinary quality. This year it was at least properly heated, unlike 2010. The answer of course is to avoid half board and eat out. There is nothing within walking distance but a variety of good restaurants within 5 miles. I recall fish at Costas on the coast to the west, the alternative fish restaurant recommended at reception seems to require a map! In Arucas there is excellent tapas at Jambon, near the cathedral and variety at the "top of the mountain" restaurant. The other couple of places we did not get to to try. Not everywhere opens before midweek, however. The very best is Casa Brito 4 miles away at Visvique, open Thursday to Sunday from 8pm. We have been 3 times and enjoyed excellent meat or fish each time. It may be necessary to get reception to book for you at weekends.

Overall, you should not be deterred by the poor half board food as it is easily overcome and otherwise the place has much to commend it.

Room Tip: We returned to our original Junior Suite but I doubt if any room would disappoint
