We traveled March'14 to Goa, we were 4 people and stays at La'ben for 3 nights. Hotel was clean and comfortable. Service was OK, and food was Excellent (Veg.) do recommended for Veg. Biryani (if you are vegetarian). At La'Ben restaurant's service can be improved. We opt to visit North Goa trip from Hotel, that was not good;if anyone want to go for tours will recommend GTDC (Colva Residancy) 300mtrs. from La'Ben.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, if you have any older member with you; go for rooms on ground floor or first floor only.

Fortunately I saw no insect life here, as some others did. I found La Ben to be clean and comfortable (although the TVs could do with replacing) and better quality than the beach shacks which are popular around here. The English breakfast is good; the fish curry is so-so but the chicken xacuti is excellent. Colva being a party town, there's a fair amount of noise from bars and clubs. The manager dealt perfectly with my moaning about some appalling karaoke by directing me to the hotel's own bar, where they were playing the much pleasanter sounds of Muddy Waters and Eric Clapton! And although Kingfisher is not my favourite beer, the prices in Goa make it rude not to.

Room Tip: Ask which are the quieter rooms---maybe at the back.

As there are two sides of every coin this hotel also has its pros and cons
Pros - Close to the beach,Excellent roof top bar to chill out,Spacious room with comfortable bed
Cons - Found a cockroach and snails in the bath, ants all over the place. Now for the scary part..I got served with a dead cockroach in my snack which eventually I was not billed for on the rooftop bar.Hence my next days spent on the roof top bar were without snacks.
But all in all a nice place to stay at though the management could improve on certain things.

La Ben Resort, Colva Beach.
I stayed at this hotel in February 2014 for a month and was a little apprehensive as it is billed as a cheap budget hotel. I arrived early morning without suitcase as the airline had managed to loose it. Dennis on reception was very helpful and showed me where I could freshen up as my room wasn't quite ready and buy a few essential items. He is also the one to see regarding any problems, booking trips or hiring transport, a great guy. My suitcase arrived two days later and was delivered to my room.
My room although basic had all that I needed and was very clean and tidy. The rooms are cleaned daily and bedding and towels changed every other day by friendly helpful staff. There is also a very reasonable laundry service available. The garden restaurant is amazing, with a mixture of lighting and decore that sets the perfect ambiance for your evening meal. The restaurant manager Lionel and his wife B along with all the staff are the perfect hosts and able to advise on all matters especially the food which is excellent whichever dish you choose, but be advised, you will need to book as this is the best restaurant in Colver. Several nights a week there is a variety of entertainment on. The hotel is situated in an ideal location, near the beach with easy access to bars, shops restaurants and transport.
I spoke to many of the guests who stay here for up to four months year after year.
All in all this little gem in Colva beach is the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

La Ben resort is at a 5 mins walking distance from Colva beach. The rooms are clean and the staff is polite. The garden restaurant serves very good food and the prices are not very high. Overall a very nice place if you want to stay close to the beach

However, would just warn all not to rent bikes / activa from the guys sitting right next to the gate of the resort. They are downright crooks and unfriendly hooligans who fleece you for money. Avoid them at all cost for a peaceful stay at Colva
