“excellent stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 14, 2014

we stayed here 2 nights , and it was more then expectation to me . has a nice clean well maintained swimming poll, good stuffs , and the room was also good , bathroom also quite good,
in evening time live singing was very pleasant .
and it was just 10 minutes to the beach .
colva beach is quite good , but here it has some negative points cause in the way to beach you will smell old fishy smell and adjacent beach area also not clean , so you have to walk to go to main area . so location in ch i have some complaints .
recommended for all who like some cool time pass inside hotel .

Dear Doctor

Thank you for your review and valuable time. Sorry that you had to experience old fish smell as you pass through the fisher-men village, even if its matter of just 10 meters till you reach the sea water it is noticeable. We are happy that you all had a good time at our Hotel. We look forward to see you soon.

Since v had thoroughly enjoyed our stay in October 2013 for 4 days, i wished to return to Golden palms for tis time was a quick overnite stay!!
Since i couldnt get thru d online bookin due to some errors frm my home net i called d hotel reservations n Janya did a very good n hospitable job.
My trip tis time was only wit my son's as v had a quick ceremony at d Mangeshi temple n was relieved as had no tentions of d hotel stay.

V reached by about 7 pm on d 6 th of April n was shocked to get disappointed by not at all courteous reception staff.
Later to more a disappointment d room was filthy, full of spiders n a strong damp smell.
D A/c in d room didnt work even when a technician checked it.

Havin mentioned of imp ceremony at our temple d next day v had left d hotel at 6 am n by 9 am v started receiving calls frm d front desk for vacating d room.
My daughter belongs to d hospitality industry too in mumbai n i understand when a group checks in guests r requested to vacate rooms on time. But 9 am is not d checkout time.
Maria was extremely rude n tis is not wat i had expected.

Having group business is great for d hotel n v wish prosperity to d hotel but d hotel staff needs to identify guests separately n d wats to handle them.

D most imp thing needed is to train staff to b more courteous n hospitable.

Even though I am extremely upset about my tis stay, i look forward to returning back to u coz i am 100 '/. Sure tat Golden palms management is capable of improving all d setbacks.

Wishing d hotel higher management all d best.

The hotel is really nice and comfortable. service was good, pool was cleaned properly and food was good as well.

The only I have found:-

1. They make you fill and sign big forms. And it takes at least 20-30 mins, we came from Jaisalmer to Goa so we had to take a cab ride, 2 planes and another cab ride to reach there. So we were expecting a quick check in, but they had these big forms ready for us. may they could have let us check in first and then do all the formality since they are time consuming and more than any other hotel.

2. They have written in big letters "Golden Plams and Spa Hotel" when there is no spa and not even they have any plans to build one. When I asked they said it is a brand name and they have use the same name in all the branches which is fine but how about mentioning this when one is trying to book the hotel in Colva which doesnt have a SPA on their website or on Hotels.com or on trip advisor. I booked it through their website and there was no mention of that.

3. Room service was poor - The room was not cleaned properly, they didn't change bathroom mats, and bath tub was not clean or was not in good condition, they were not able to understand what we were saying, we asked for our laundry when they are giving us back and they sent someone to pick up the laundry. There were no towels in my room when we had ask twice and on the last day we got it. When I asked for a blanket they gave us bed sheet.

But Staff was very helpful, restaurant food was good, pool bar was good.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review, we understand the stress our Guest go through to complete the check-in formalities. At the same time it is for your own & other Guest security and mandatory by the Govt. of Goa.... our apology for the same and for absence of the up-coming Spa. With regards to the blanket, we have cozy comfy Duvet which is made / set on the bed, as you may have seen.
We look forward to see you again soon.

Booked this hotel twice - once in Sept 2012 for myself and again in Jan 2014 for my sister in law. Very good hotel at affordable price. Close to the beach. Has a great proper swimming pool. Good restaurant facilities and if you have a package with 3 ,meals a day all the more better. Located in South Goa, so quite peaceful for a quiet vacation of 3-4 days.

This was our 1st visit to goa after baby so this time we wanted to stay in a resort which is in south goa but still not very secluded. Colva was the right bet and golden palms seemed the right choice. The property is small comparwd to other resorts but it has it all. Nicely structured resort. Pool in the centre. Nice food. Good variety in food. Very very good service. They made us fresh chapatis for my 1 yr old daughter. Theu even packed cereals amd chapatis at time of check out. Rooms were also nice n cozy. Live band in evenings was very nice. Its near to colva beach.. 10 min walk.. good value for money.
Would love to visit again

We visited the Golden Palms resort, Colva in Feb 2014. We had earlier stayed in the Kenilworth and the Taj property when visiting Goa, but decided upon this resort as my husband was running the Beach Run 22.8kms in the Colva beach, and the marathon venue is a 5 min.s walk from the hotel. We had asked and had been assured of an early check in as we were travelling with a toddler, but were kept waiting for 5 hours before being given our room. The rooms are on the smaller side, and when an extra bed was added to the mix for my son, there was simply no space to walk about! The rooms have all the mod cons, but the bed linen didnt get changed in the five days we stayed there. Also, they charged us for bathroom slippers! The food was good, my compliments to the chef. The live performances were enjoyable. The staff were friendly. In all, an ok experience.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review and feedback. We do understand the inconvenience of waiting for a room with a toddler and apology for same. This happens in all hotels when they are running full, till a guest checks out we are not able to clean & sanitize the room for our next guest. We appreciate your discomfort of not having enough space after the roll-away bed was placed, our rooms are of standard size to the rating.
With regards to the changing of Linen, we are thankful to you for have being using our linen with so much care to differentiate in soiled & fresh. We change the bath-room linen every day & bed linen every alternate day if soiled or not. (very next day if found soiled)
We look forward to serve you soon.

First of all we arrived early at the hotel in the morning on 10th march at 8 am and we did all the procedures to check in but then the person in the reception asked us for a hard copy of our booking, you cannot expect a customer to carry a hard copy unless informed; we had done our booking with the hotel directly. Then as we arrived soon we kept our luggage at the hotel and went to beach and arrived at the hotel at 12:00 pm and checked in to the rooms.
We were taken to the room 104 by the room boy, the first look was good. We liked the rooms, the mattress was good and tidy and the room was clean. There are cracks all over the room. But as soon as i entered the bathroom i was taken back with the smell, i was very very bad. So that was the first put down. The bathtub was dirty. The housekeeping boy arrived and put the room freshener. And the bathroom tiles are little broken and not maintained at all, you can expect water to stop suddenly for 2 mins. This water problems happens at least ten times in a day. After the house keeping was informed also, the problem was rectified but it was temporary this again started after one hour. this kept on happening till the time we checkout also. I ended up calling housekeeping at least 8-10 times a day. On the last day i

was so irritated that, the hot water was not coming and also the normal water as well. I asked to speak to the Manager. Luckily i got to see the Manager Mr. Devanand and his assistant Mr. Ghouse near the pool but he told that this would be resolved within half an hour but this went up to two hours yet we did not get hot water so we

decided to checkout. Before we checkout an hour before they rectified the problem but it was too late for us. These people Mr Devanand and Mr Gouse were kind enough to come with thermometer and check the hot water temperature finally somewhere around 36 degree Celsius but the other days the hot water temperature was less than 5 degree Celsius.
This was the very thing i was very annoyed with the hotel; water problem. You cannot expect this in four star hotel. I've been to normal hotels but have not faced so much problem as this Golden Palms.
We had lot of problem with the door as well, the door did not open sometimes with the card provided. Then was the TV, the channels are not clear most of them don't come as it is not digital TV with setop box. As mentioned Golden palms hotel and spa, there is absolutely no spa in the hotel. Its just for namesake they have put. Also the housekeeping daily once just cleaned the room but the toiletries were not replaced, it was just left as it is.
The pool is good, hotel is clean, the restaurant is good and tasty. Buffet is good at the bamboo top but remains the same all the days which gets you
bored. Evening buffet next to pool is good with live music.Outside the hotel is the green fields and its just 3 min walk to the beach through the fisherman colony.
Definitely with my above experience i did not feel worth the money i spent for this hotel with so much problems and that too as the hotel mentions it is a 4-Star hotel. You cannot expect so much problems in a 4-Star hotel, ain't it?? And i do not recommend this to any one and will never tend to come back to this hotel again with the bad experience i had. I have paid the money whatever hotel is charged, so i need to get the right service..

Dear Guest

Thank you for your valuable time in reviewing us & feedback. We very much regret for the inconvenience caused to you with the water supply and we would have felt the same after spending a good amount on a good resort. Our water supply is on hydro-pneumatic pump system, so whenever there is a power cut DG takes 6sec to start, meanwhile the water pressure has dropped especially your room 104 which is on the first floor. And depending upon the number of users at that moment, it takes time for the water supply to resume. Generally the electricity board do not cut supply so often as yourself had to experience, but other bad day for all.
We are very soon shifting to digital TV in process if wiring is noticed by yourself and Spa is up-coming soon.
Please do give us opportunity to serve you again.
